A skydiver has died after he fell out of his parachute harness during a jump at SkyDance Skydiving in Davis.
Yolo County sheriff's Sgt. Hector Bautista says the 23-year-old man made the jump in Davis over the Yolo County Airport at about 6 p.m. Saturday. He died at a hospital.
His name hasn't been released but Bautista says he was an experienced skydiver who lived in San Jose.
Yolo County officials said they were sent to the scene around 6 p.m. Deputies located the body of the deceased skydiver about 1 mile southeast of the SkyDance drop zone. His canopy and harness was also located 1 mile northeast of the drop zone.
"At this point in the investigation, it is unknown how the victim became detached from his skydiving gear," according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Mark Persons. "Friends and fellow skydivers stated that victim was an experienced skydiver with more than 600 jumps.
The accident is still under investigation.

Your just another shill for the National Parachute Association.
I’m guess he was declared dead in the hospital.
Maybe he landed on a hospital north of the airport.
He probably loosened up to make the ride up comfortable and forgot to tighten up.
Blue Skies Black Death
B17580
Back in the late 80s a skydiver was killed near Garden City, KS. His reserve chute had a pin left in it. When he had to deploy it, it couldn’t open.
According to the newspaper, the reserve chute was sealed and it was basically a death sentence to whoever had to use it.
That’s a malfunction release to deploy reserve.
Paradoxically, I support parachute controls!
I went into the lake 50’ below.
One of the downsides of losing weight.
Dont know but imagine going into water with a chute
would be dangerous.
Also bet its kinda hard to tell how far above the water
you are from the chute.
Had some buddies in the service went airborne and tried
to talk me to going with them...still glad I said no
It was great going out to that giant field at Bragg
and watching a big jump...also the ambulances picking
up the injured.
Condolences to the loved ones, but that’s just one of the things that bothers me.
What is the point of doing these senseless-danger activities, when all you do is die stupidly and leave people grieving for no good reason?
My rigs had straps that took a while to release. This seems suspiciously like an intentional omission, but who can say?
Maybe it was a parachute that was intended for the Military that Obama sent to the wrong address...
As a fellow pilot once asked me...”Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?”
These are not senseless activities. Everyone should try it if health permits.
It is truly an extraordinary experience...one has to try it to truly understand it. In spite of this story, it is really quite safe and far more safe that being treated at an Obamacare facility.
That’s you??
Did you lose the harness on purpose? Why?
I've always looked on these types of sports as a "double or nothing" bet - no matter how many times you win, you only have to lose once.
There were trees on shore that I used to gauge my altitude. From 50’ I figured the chute would fall well clear.
My plane wasn’t really all that great...
