About 40 percent of white Americans and about 25 percent of non-white Americans are surrounded exclusively by friends of their own race, according to an ongoing Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The figures highlight how segregated the United States remains in the wake of a debate on race sparked by last month’s acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting of unarmed black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. President Barack Obama weighed in after the verdict, calling for Americans to do some “soul searching” on whether they harbor racial prejudice.
There are regions and groups where mixing with people of other races is more common, especially in the Hispanic community where only a tenth do not have friends of a different race. You're not allowed to use common sense or act on human nature by gravitating toward people like you in New America. Acting on human nature is this thing called racism which has surpassed being a rapist, murderer, or pedophile as the worst thing one can be in New America.
Polls like this will be used by the leftards to justify HUD’s enforced integration of neighborhoods.

My best friend and another neighbor are black.
Neither are african american though.
As always, only one group is meant to feel bad for acting in this natural way, and only one group is "racist" for associating intra-race while the other groups are "empowering" themselves. It's all meant for white Americans to willingly give up their college positions, jobs, and ultimately their country with no resistance. It's madness.
And if white people resist the "nudging", then the federal government will use their power.

I have to agree with you. For them, the door swings only one way. My niece is married to a black man — a good guy. Still, in their home hangs a BIG picture of MLK. They just had a kid and he’ll be raised as a black person, not an American.
I’m dying to ask my niece why there isn’t a picture of someone from HER heritage hanging in their home. She could find a picture of her (white) ancestor, Roger Williams, who fought slavery in the early 1600s — centuries before MLK’s time. I’m dying to ask why she is OK with the fact that she and her heritage are not important in her home.

I have a few black friends and I like them a lot, because they’re nice people and work hard and we just discuss non-racial topics. But I’ve also tried being friends with some blacks, even going as far as giving gifts and other items, and my efforts were met with outright hostility and personal insults.
How can you be friends with that?
A few other people I’ve met of various races (Filipino, Hispanic, Indian) usually after a while seem to need to come out and remind me I’m white, or they complain to ME that they are being discriminated against by white people, which is a damn excuse for general incompetence. I mean ...who cares? The minute they start that crap, it’s over.
My best friends are my white friends who I’ve known all my life and gone to school with. I’m sure most blacks would probably say the same thing.

You can’t force people together, like this country has been trying to do for so long. Given a choice, people overwhelmingly choose neighborhoods and churches where they can be around people like themselves. I wish we could just accept that and get over it.

Heck, with the turn of events in the past 5 years, I may refuse to have any friends who are Democrats, regardless of skin color.
I am a “dark” hispanic, I look the part, that’s for sure. However, I was brought up in mostly “white middle class” neighborhoods. That’s where I have lived most of my life. So the large majority of my friends have been white. My black neighbors are from outside of the country, so they aren’t “urban” at all. I have a few hispanic friends,but even they are like me, culturally “white”.
It’s not about skin color, it’s about culture.

I have “reservations” talking about this. But I have always wanted to date a Chinese woman (long as her name wasn’t shortened from “Changstein”).
It is getting to the point where LIBs will make it a law that you must have pinhead LIB friends. That is beyond the pall. There are limits to my tolerence.

Same here. I don’t care what color you are: if you are rightwing like me, I’ll buy you a beer and you’re my brother for life. Besides, i watch him blast white liberals verbally in an argument and due to their lib white guilt, they couldn;t respond properly.
