What a bunch of meatheads!
New York pizza-lovers got a black eye from users of the travel megasite TripAdvisor, who rated the citys slices a paltry fourth in the country behind outposts like San Diego and Las Vegas.
Perhaps most offensive was the third-place choice of Boston, where reviewers gushed about pies with oddball toppings like shrimp scampi.
Get out of here, thats crazy! Boston is No. 3? said Jackson Heights resident Andrew Silverstein, 31, while enjoying lunch at famed Patsy Grimaldis new Brooklyn joint, Julianas. Ive had pizza in Boston, and it was a horrible experience.
Users of the normally reliable travel Web site suspiciously run out of the Boston suburb of Newton wrote glowingly of the pizzas that are churned out in the Mexican border town of San Diego.
The pizza was just as good as being home in New York, one person said.

On the other hand, I recently ate pizza at Grimaldi's in Las Vegas (Caesar's Forum). Excellent!
Oh, and the lady in the article who states,"Las Vegas doesn't have any good food..." is out to lunch. At Mickey D's. I ate at Craftsteak. El Diablos, and Pearl. All great places. Many of the best chefs in the world are in Vegas. The days of the 99 cent buffet are gone. Even Gordon Ramsay's restaurants are good-except for the shouting! LOL!
Pretty much comes down to what I'm in the mood for.
Thin crust goes to White Cottage in Wood Dale.
I live in Boston - the pizza here sucks - especially in the North End. The restaurants think far too much of themselves.
I have a friend from Chicago who lives near Atlanta. She often praises this Atlanta restaurant:
Haven't been to the Nawth End in centuries and I wondid if it was still thehe.
(Spelling Bostonian English is a lot hahdah than speaking it.)
Civic Boosterism Alert.....
Pittsburgh absolutely belongs on this list. We experienced a mass influx of Italians during the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Lots of mom and pop pizza shops that are VERY authentic. National chains have a tough time competing with them in this town.
I'm just not sure it was pizza.
Usually when Chicago are not one and two it is some snooty gourmet non-pizza beauty contest. I have had pizza in just about every part of the country, often recommended by locals. Chicago deep dish and NY pizzas are different but the best anywhere.
I'm from Chicago area but I believe NYC-style pizza is the truest form of pizza. Chicago deep dish is good food but it is not true pizza. Globally, everything is compared to NYC pizza.
A few years ago, a channel (Travel Channel?) aired a feature where firemen from each city was given the other city’s pizza. Some reactions were comical.
Is it pizza if there’s no Provel cheese?
Onesto’s in St. Louis, or Talayna’s or Imo’s if you must.
Primanti’s is not known for pizza. The chain locations have it on the menu, but their core product is that sandwich on thick Italian bread with cole slaw and fries on top. Not everyone’s cup of tea so they expanded the menu.
Fiori’s on Capital at West Liberty Ave. is one of the oldest (and best)

There is good pizza in the LA area. I think the best is in OC, at A Slice of New York in Seal beach.
Our experience in Louisville was always quantity over quality.
Boston DOES have good Pizza!
Fuhgedabout da pizza!
Have da Eyetalian Beef!
I’ve had a lot of pizza in different places but I don’t like just one type of pizza though. Sometimes I like deep dish Chicago style and other times I like the greasy dripping NY style and sometimes I like a nice Sicilian style. If I had to rate fast food chain pizza I’d probably favor the Topper’s Chain for the #1 spot plus no place I’ve encountered beats their topperstix. If I stuck to just national chains that are everywhere. I’d have to give a slight edge to Pizza Hut though Papa Johns and Dominos are good on occasion. The best local pizza is a great place called Pizza Express. The pizza is real NY style and they deliver everything.
The most unique experience I’ve had at a pizza restaurant
was at the Fat Cat Pie Co in Norwalk CT. If you expect big greasy pizza you won’t like it. Its not a place for take out or delivery. Its pizza is thin and the ingredients are all organic. What I loved the most is the assortment of spices that they bring out with the pizza which allow you to make each slice a unique experience if you desire. It also has a wonderful atmosphere with an excellent bar filled with a great selection of wines and beers. It is the only “pizza” place I’d recommend for an elegant date night.

Lastly the number one discount pizza in my book is Little Caesars though Cicis is close behind.
