We are road racing this weekend.

Here is an FR thread already discussing it.
Max Papis will be filling in. Still time to change drivers for the weekend.
Of course, the conversation for the week, at least is Tony Stewart.

That is the worst gayest name for a nascar race yet
I keep thinking of those commercials with the little girl and the block of cheese rolling into the cracker, just cheez-it.
I luv the road races and the Glen is better than Sanoma.
Wow, Max Papis is a good road racer. I was at the Daytona 24 hour race where he earned the nickname “Mad Max”. He was driving a Ferrari 333SP 12 cylinder prototype and was driving the final stint in second place. He was running down the lead car by seconds per lap, but ran out of time. It was a very exciting finish and he was driving like a mad man to try for the win.
Best wishes for Tony Stewart!
Cheezy...very cheezy...
I will find something else to do this weekend. The road races suck.
Wait till they have the 0bama fuel saving 0. Zer0 laps and everyone loses, but everyone gets a prize of a free membership at Mans World in Chicago.
Thanks for the ping.
This race almost made our itinerary for this year after going to Sonoma last year and having a blast at a road course.
I wonder if Ryan Newman will get some or all of Tony’s crew for the rest of the year??
Doubt it. Patrick is the future while Rocket Man is soon gone.
Since Newman has a good chance to make the chase you’d think they’d supplement his crew w/Tony’s best crewmen to have at least one driver in the chase.
How is your Bimmer 335 doing? Any thoughts on what you want next? I need AWD here in the Colorado mountains so it limits my choices. I like the Aston Martins, but they are all 2WD and probably slower 0-60 than my Audi S6 with the Vantage V12 around twice the price. I have had 2 Porsches in the past and now also have the Mercedes C300 which is not very fast, but has AWD and handles well with the AMG suspension option. Advertising Guy has a C7 Corvette on order. They look very impressive, but they are 2WD too. The C7 is probably the most bang for the buck today. The Shelby Mustang is impressive, but 2WD and WHY are they still making Mustangs without independent rear suspension? Maybe I will wait to see if Audi will build a 600 HP RS6 sedan instead of that ugly Avant wagon style.
Thanks for the ping. My picks have stunk from week 14 on. How I have been able to stay in first for the season mystify’s me. I know you guys are better than that. I think you all must be saving all of your good drivers for the end.
You have been doing great. I think you went to the lead and turned on a smoke maker. You are trying to make the rest of us think you blowed ur engine so we would lay off. I expect a fast race to the end so I am not biting :)
The ‘335 is great; such a sweet car. The comparison to the ‘335 another run-of-the-mill vehicle has to be similar to crop duster vs Stealth bomber.
Took it over the MdKenzie pass earlier this week on a business trip to the valley. Nice curvy road w/a few straight aways. Had it parked inside and covered for a week prior to the trip. It turned over slowly when I started it so I took it into the BMW dealer today. They said (I believe them as I don’t know any better) that with all the computers and servo motors running when the vehicle is parked that I was draining the battery. They recommended, and I bought, a 1.25 amp charger for the battery. Would you believe, as the battery for the ‘335 is in the trunk, that there are two terminals (positive is covered, of course, w/a sleeve) under the front hood to hook up the charger too?
Weather will be changing in another month. I plan to garage park and cover the 335 for the winter. My 2004 F-150 Lariat will be the winter car. I’m gonna hang onto the 335. I’ve only put 4000 miles on it since Spring so it only has a total of 16K miles.
I avg 200-220 for the most part. First time, makes me happy enough. Can’t pick JJ every week.
Something like the Nissan GT-R might be my next car. It has over 500hp and has AWD. It is the evolution of the Nissan Skyline that never had mass distribution to the USA. It is a road beast:
On the Speedvision show “Are You Faster than a Redneck” the show that had a Nissan GT-R on, the GT-R won. The 545 HP in AWD beat the 600-700 HP 2WD race tuned muscle car in the final race. It made me think hmmm....
