That was great. Prince, ever the performer.

“BTW, his son looks just like him as a young man.”
Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Amazing resemblance, as it should be, as it is George’s son. Prince was outstanding. A real showman type, but he was truly fantastic.
That peformance really kicked butt. Credit where due, an outstanding job.
“He gives quarter to urban hip-hop as valid entertainment but remains true to his roots by choking that stratocaster until it screams!”
Agreeed...great playing (but it’s a Telecaster).
Telecaster: Color me educated.
Condor would be disappointed in me.
Jeff Lynne has no stage presence, but he is one heckuva musician and producer.
Still is, his Royal Badness.
:: Couldnt figure out which one was Dhani Harrison, though. ::
Seriesly! To Petty’s right on accoustic. Looks so much like GH that I’m thinking deja vu.
I recog’d Lynne, Petty, Harrison, Dhante, Winwood and Prince but who was the first lead soloist?
Well played - by everyone involved.
No Eric Clapton?
He is. And so is Tom Petty. Either of them could have done a very credible job with the guitar solo, but neither would have been able to put into it what Prince did. I really like how this eclectic collection of talent came together (so to speak) to honor one of the greats. Well done.
His name is Marc Mann, he’s worked with Jeff Lynne and ELO in the past. He did a fantastic job on that song...and then Prince came along and blew him into the weeds.

I don’t believe there is an instrument that Prince can’t play.

Interesting choice of terms considering his association with Lynne/ELO but, yes, he did a commendable job of staying with the original licks which I found quite appropriate for the situation and venue.
That was really NICE!
Thank you for posting.
My agent does a lot of advertising on the Internet, and I gasped as, right as Prince was doing that amazing solo, there was a pop-under ad for guitar lessons by....ME! Yikes! :-)
You’re probably right. On his early albums he played all the instruments.
Yeah, he’s a weirdo, but he’s a very talented weirdo.
I love that song, and was lucky enough to see it played by the man during the George Harrison and Friends tour in Seattle, 1974. It was quite an ensemble with Billy Preston, Tom Scott, Ravi Shankar, Robben Ford plus I don’t remember the rest. They also played “My Sweet Lord” and “Something”.
Great concert among many back then...
Prince is an amazing musician and performer. Probably the best around.
Absolutely. The guy is a genius. Writer, musician, singer, producer. The guy does it all. Sure, he a bit of a freak. But to be that friggin artistic you have to be. His solo on this video is just amazing. Loved watching the other guys watch him play.
