Did I really just hear Obama suggest that armed young black men may shoot anyone watching or following them, if that makes them feel threatened, in Stand Your Ground states?
Here's what he said today:
"And for those who resist that idea that we should think about something like these stand your ground laws, I just ask people to consider if Trayvon Martin was of age and armed, could he have stood his ground on that sidewalk? And do we actually think that he would have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman, who had followed him in a car, because he felt threatened?"
It's not only ignorant and offensive that he'd make this ridiculous comparison, but also, given the tinderbox of irrational outrage which currently exists over this verdict, it's outright dangerous to make the comments he made. Yes, others have said this too, but he should know better. SYG has the same criteria as self-defense with regard to the fact that one must be reasonably in fear of great bodily harm or death before deadly force may be used, and anyone with a brain should know that simply being followed or watched by someone would not provide any legal justification for using deadly force. In fact it's not a justification for using any force.
But now our president may have just put it into the minds of some young angry protestors that racial justice would demand that they also be protected by SYG laws if they shoot someone for watching or following them. Okay, sure, he meant it in a sarcastic way to try to make the legitimate use of SYG laws seem wrong by this ridiculous comparison. But the young, angry, low-information, I-am-Trayvon-Martin protestors may not make that distinction, and could possibly interpret this as a call to arms!
Breathtakingly stupid and outrageous, and I hope someone takes him to task for that comment very soon.

Barack Obama makes Rachel Jeantel look like Albert Einstein.

This would create court precedent for Leftist activists to get similar laws in other states stricken from the books.
The end result? Citizens cannot defend themselves when the Gibsmedats come boiling out of the urban kraals.
Back-door Gun Control, legislated from the bench. Thats all there ever is or was to this case.
Striking terror into Whiteys heart is a twofer.
Being followed does not place your life or the life of another in imminent danger, Mr. pResident, you awful excuse for a lawyer.
Hopefully, your bad advice does not land anyone who listens to it in jail or dead, because then their blood would be on your hands, not that it would matter to someone such as yourself.
No Barack knows exactly what he’s saying. Jeantel was just being who she was.
Lenin’s toe nail clippings could tell lies more convincingly than President You Didn’t Build That.
He has trouble hiding his contempt for crackers.
You make a fatal mistake in providing Obama with the benefit of ANY doubt.
Not exactly good legal advice or statute interpretation. Are we sure that he graduated from Law School?
Obama mentioned that 35 years ago, he could have been just like Trayvon Martin. Someone should have immediately asked him: “Where *were* you 35 years ago?”
1978.
There was a caller on a local radio show (Chris Plante in DC) and he started off sounding like a normal person. He said he was a black man and has a VA CC permit and will encourage his son to get one. It then veered off into a strange direction whereas the caller said that he would tell his son to shoot someone that was following him, if he felt threatened. From what I was taught, that is one of the worst things you can do. You shouldn’t carry a gun to shoot men down like the wild west. What are these people being told at CCW classes? I tried to call and chastise that guy but my kids were acting up and I could not get on the phone.
That is where the danger lies. People unable to differentiate what a threat is versus a non-threatening situation. Anything you can walk away from does not warrant the use of a weapon.
Are we going back to the days where you have to avert your eyes from them or they will act violently? Are we to start treating black people like petulant little children?
Jeb Bush signed the stand-your-ground law, which is surprising as I learn more about his RINO politics. The local paper, the Tallahassee Democrat, repeatedly lied about the law. They had to know they were lying, but did so anyway. It was pure misrepresentation on their part.
The paper said that if you felt threatened by anybody it was okay to kill them and implied under any circumstance. There was never anything about retreating or being backed into a corner. In one article they actually said the law allowed you to hunt somebody down and kill them if you felt threated. This purposeful misperception has been carried on despite every attempt to dispel it.
Few know anything about Obama’s education but he’s sure proving that he can do division.
In what way is diversity a strength? These anti-white POS can GTH.
I hope so sooner than later before I am too old to stand my ground.
Luckily Harvard and the Ivy League schools are limited in the number of lawyers that they can graduate or we would be waist deep in educated fools.
Next thing you know, he will try to assert that perps “threatened” by cops will be able to shoot at them under Stand Your Ground.
If there was ever a President who needed to disappear, it is Obama.
