BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
He was in the "wrong neighborhood" is just one reason a man gave as to why he was punched in the face. His wife and daughter were also hit.
Police arrested one man (Donald Dickerson) and ticketed two others. They are all accused of punching the family.
Donald Dickerson
The owners of the gas station did not want to comment on camera, but said there's a wide variety of customers in and out of the store in the daytime. At night, though, it's not the safest of places, especially with the area having some of the highest crime in the city.
Cpl. Tommy Stubbs, spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Police Department, said a man wearing a pink shirt was in line trying to pay for gas when Donald Dickerson, 41, started making fun of him, leading to an argument.
"The defendant (Dickerson) approached the white male victim," the police report stated. It went on to read, "the defendant told him he was in the wrong neighborhood and he was not going to make it out." The victim said that's when he "was punched and knocked to the ground."
At this time, his wife got out of the car and ran to help her husband. The victim said, "he continued to struggle with the defendant and was eventually knocked unconscious, which later he awoke in the hospital." His wife told police, "after running to help her husband, she remembers falling to the ground and also being knocked unconscious."
According to a close family friend, that's when the couple's teenage daughter got out of the car to check on her parents and, "observed a female punch her mother in the face, when her mother then fell to the concrete, hitting her head on the surface." The daughter was also punched in the face.
"There were only three suspects but there were multiple people in the parking lot," said Stubbs.
Of those three, Dickerson was arrested and charged with second-degree battery. The other two suspects, Devin Bessye, 24, and Ashley Simmons, 22, were released on site after police wrote them each a summons for simple battery.
The victim suffered "a broken eye socket, broken nose, and several lacerations to the face," and his wife was knocked unconscious.
As to whether this falls under a hate crime, police said early reports show it does not meet the statute but remains under investigation.
It was simply a "love occurrence", and the offended party has the rights to pay for all damages done to them.
Man I should have a job at a newspaper..... I'm getting good at this NEWSPEAK.
These people are all on welfare and they are biting the hand that feeds them...literally.
And cost the gun owning citizen years of litigation and at least one trial and a lifetime stigma as a raciest ... doubt me, ask Zimmerman.
this is clearly a hate crime.
Whenever someone tells me there are more black men in prison because of racism, I tell them, “Yeah! And there are more ment than women in prison because of sexism!”
;-)
“This story is from May 2013.
It has nothing to do with the Zimmerman Verdict and everything to do with the Black Thug Mentality that has skyrocketed since Lord Obama The First was Emancipated.”.....
This one needs to be sent to the newly implemented “tipster” site that Holder has setup to collect “stuff” on Geo. Zimmerman. I will bet the farm, there are many more of these stories around than ANYTHING they find on Zimmerman.
PS....They let the guy off with a “ticket”? Really?

Of course its NOT a hate crime. Only those of Caucasian European lineage are capable of committing 'hate' crimes. Non-whites commit their crimes out of love.
This is why I carry.
I live in a middle class area, mostly cow pastures and dairy farms. Mostly white people. Therefore it is clean, maintained and crime-free.
If a black person walks down the road or stops at a convenience store not a single thought is given to him. He goes on about his business and even gets a few waves and someone will hold the door open for him and nod good afternoon.
But I avoid the inner city ghetto. If I were to walk through there, I’d have my finger on my trigger. I drive around the projects with my doors locked when going to the city.
Why is that? Is it the people? Its pretty cut and dry which races of people occupy the two areas. Could that be it?
SHHHHHHH. We are not supposed to talk about that. There is no difference in the people. SHHHHHH don’t say that....
I wonder what emotion was triggered in the assailant when he saw the victim wearing a pink shirt.
The Griswald’s on their family vacation?
“To Black people.......THIS CRAP is why you are being treated differently!!! DECENT BLACKS, tell them to STOP COMMITTING CRIMES and STOP BEING ANIMALS!!!! White people are becoming AFRAID of Blacks....PETRIFIED in fact.
These people are all on welfare and they are biting the hand that feeds them...literally. “
George Zimmerman sure as hell was not afraid.
The other two suspects, Devin Bessye, 24, and Ashley Simmons, 22, were released on site after police wrote them each a summons for simple battery.
The victim suffered “a broken eye socket, broken nose, and several lacerations to the face,” and his wife was knocked unconscious.
WHen I hear the “we need to have a conversation on race” by a black figure in the media I can only assume they want all white people to put blinders on and close their minds to common sense when it comes to black crime and culture. They couldn’t possibly mean that this country is racist against black people. Could they? All evidence proves otherwise. They’re poor, it’s our fault for not giving them MORE welfare. They’re in gangs? It’s our fault they feel they need to band together, because...I don’t know lol but it’s our fault the baby daddy’s don’t stick around I guess too. I have come to the conclusion it’s useless to try and reason with them. They’re blinded by stupidity and hate.
