An Arizona police officer has been fired after he made an early morning stop at a local gas station, wearing his bulletproof vest and pointing his service weapon at the clerk.

Off-duty Tuscon Police Officer Kyle James McCartin, 23, and a friend entered the station early Tuesday shirtless beyond the bulletproof vests and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the station clerk. In the security-camera footage, the men made no attempts to disguise themselves or hide their faces. Both of the men appear to pay for their goods. Following the completion of their transactions, the two men left the station on foot. They were later apprehended by McCartin’s colleagues at Tuscon PD. McCartin, on the force since September, has been fired and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault.

I think this guy should be barred for sometime. I also don’t wish for him to work at any mall. His abuse of power and disgusting behavior is totally unacceptable. His behavior is not and should not be justifiable by any American standard.

I thought there mental examinations along with physical and intelligence? Apparently at this P.D. you can fail two out of three and still be hired.

Apparently, in this district, affirmative action also applies to drunks, egomaniacs, lunatics and junkies. We have to make sure that idiots are represented in the work force and are not discriminated against.

Why is this man not in prison on the felony charge that would happen to any other person?

McCartin, on the force since September, has been fired and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault.
While some defendants are held in jail during their trials, we typically wait to send people to PRISON until after they are actually convicted.

That too. Paying starvation wages just encourages more of that.

Why did he point a gun at him?

Because he was:

A) Drunk

B) Stupid

C) Arrogant

D) Irresponsible

E) All of the above

Based on an hourly rate, annual starting salary for a Tucson Police Officer is $45,965 and begins when a recruit is appointed to the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Training Center.

No kidding..The level of professionalism amongst law enforcement has dropped off the cliff....It’s just unbelievable...

But I bet he’s got a couple years college of administration of Justice experience....lol... They love these types, who have absolutely no street experience or common sense...zip..

When I see police departments that post starting salaries of $30K and under I cringe.

Are you suggesting people in government are underpaid or under compensated?

Sorry for the snarkiness. Too many email replies and posts today from people following the "reply-all first, read later" strategy.

And I think it was Lazamataz with the tagline of ‘proudly posting without reading the article since 1998’

Just print more money.

That $30,000 is likely $10,000 more annually than the store clerk ;and the clerk is statiscally several times more likely to be shot and killed on the job, almost certainly has insurance and retirement that pale in comparison to the police IF the clerk has either.

The clerk is also prohibited by his employer from having a weapon or defending himself in 99% of stores .

Your sympathy is misplaced.

The way it used to work for a couple thousand tears is you start at low pay ,gain experience and prove yourself, and are rewarded with promotions and higher pay.

I get so tired of whiny cops wanting 6-figure salaries plus bennies because “I put my life on the line for you ...”

In most cases that is pure BS.

The trouble is too many become cops for the power trip and too few to “protect and serve”.That seems to especially apply to those in liberal enclaves.

Ditto what you said. I laugh when cops whine about how dangerous their job is.
