Now that he has successfully defended himself from criminal charges brought against him by the state of Florida for the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman is going to resume a lawsuit he filed several months earlier against NBC News.
Launched in the midst of the state prosecution against him by a separate civil team, the lawsuit is a defamation claim alleging that NBC deliberately altered an audio recording so as to make Zimmerman appear to be racist.

IDs of these folks would be nice.
I hope he sues them enough to put the out of business
I don't think it will be hard to show intent. What other possible excuse could there have been for that edit, except to make Zimmerman sound racist? Whoever made the edit would get on the witness stand and be ripped to shreds, or will have to say he was told to do it. And then whoever gave the order would be made to squirm.
Remember, the standard is lower than beyond a reasonable doubt.
I would expect that the settlement would be much higher than $1mm.

They will settle out of court. No way they are going to chance discovery.
Venue will be Seminole County, too. Comcast is going to have to pay up.
Absent a judge's order, it takes two parties to agree to settle. Were I George Zimmerman, I wouldn't be in a settling mood.
I hope George wins the keys to the front doors of NBC and ABC. Then he can remove anything worth while in the building, chain the doors and burn it to the ground.
I would like to announce the newest media mogul in the country, George
Zimmerman. He recently acquired CNN, NBC, MSNBC through a massive
settlement in a civil case he filed. His first directive as Chairman of Zimmerman Media was to FIRE EVERY single employee!
I take your point, but the willingness to settle depends on one's assessment of one's likelihood of winning. So it's conceivable he might decide it makes more sense to settle, although that decision probably wouldn't come at least until the discovery phase is over, and possibly not until all the trial testimony is over.
Point taken as well. But I think we can both agree that Zimmerman shouldn’t settle for a “here’s our offer to go away” sort of settlement.
Easy for us to say though.
“I would expect that the settlement would be much higher than $1mm. “
On second thought- you’re probably right.
Weird thought: considering the incredibly shallow, stupid audience NBC strives for they might see a PR BONUS to fighting the suit even if they know they’ll lose!
I'm not a lawyer, but I have been a plaintiff in many business litigations, and proved myself to be the pro se defendant from Hell in two multi-million dollar lawsuits, from which I walked away for a mere $1,200 after two years of counter-suing and writing all my own pleadings.
Trust me, there won't be any settlement at least until the discovery phase is completed.
Sue for ownership of the entire satanic enterprise!
Give it legs, Z. Get a foundation going to support, if they’ll let you— oh,oh they won’t.
So a private fund private donations.
“IDs of these folks would be nice.”
And home addresses.
With the exception of FOX the US has no trustworthy news organizations. And sometimes FOX leave a bit to doubt. I get my news world wide and you’d be surprised to read what is written about what happens in the US that is not reported.
NBC, owned by Comcast, will absolutely settle out of court with sealed records.
Comcast doesn't want this bag of crap hung around their corporate neck.
Did you notice which side won?
