Chris Weidman sent a shock wave through mixed martial arts, stopping Anderson Silva in the second round of the main event at UFC 162 to become the new middleweight champion on Saturday night.
Silva talked, taunted and dared Weidman to engage him. When the champion lowered his hands early in the second round, Weidman caught him with a short left that sent the MMA star to the mat. Weidman pounced and landed a few more shots that forced referee Herb Dean to stop the fight at 1:18

That is different. A lefthook can be very powerful. A good thing in a street fight too for incapacitating one’s opponent.
Agreed. Now too many fighters engage in risk management strategies, which leads to many boring fights as well.

Weidman walked into that ring intent on knocking Silva out and that’s just what he did. Silva thought he had a good chin which allowed him to drop his hands. Now Silva has met Weidmans left hook and realized that his chin is no match for Weidmans short left hook. Munoz found out the same thing only in his case it was a short Weidman right elbow. Such is life.

Will this be entered as “evidence” in the GZ trial??

Weidman could have shoved Silva's teeth down his throat.
Even after the defeat, Silva played to the media. Ensures that a rematch will be in the works. Ratings trump any contract.

Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that’s about it.

And GSP won’t be available for a rematch any time soon, because he was so beat up! Unbelievable.
Part of the blame goes to the stupid 10 point must system. You can make a weak case he won the first round and thus the fight. No one on Earth judging the fight as a whole would say he won.
I also thought Gustaffson beat Jones but that was close, and Gust looked like he was gonna fall down dead at the end of fight.
And now Silva’s leg is all flippity floppity. It was a brutal thing, but given his attitude in the first fight, I struggle with more than bronze level sympathy.
