I am guessing you didn’t venture into downtown Greenville, or Spartanburg SC.

You touched the civilised part of that elephant.

Trust me, you are currently ‘charmed’ as you suggest.

Having written that, it IS appropriate to point out that a broad brush applied to “blacks” paints **MANY** incorrectly and unfairly. We truly have MANY friends, including 3 of our 5 proximate neighbor houses who are “black” or interracial households. They are happily married, have great kids etc etc. Great neighbors too. Willy next door teaches me how to grow vegetables worth eating from the crappy GA soil, and I help him with power tools. Pauline brings us sweet potato pie and drinks wine on the back deck with my wife, and I fix their leaf blower and garage door. Tommy and Jerry will out work any of us, any day.

What we share is a culture, a set of values and principles. We don’t share close geneology or pigmentation.

The ‘students’ described in this text are not ‘our’ (our neighborhood) peers in any way, shape or form. Yet they share our schools and our $$ value chain.

The tragedy here is that we seem unable to have a pulic dialog about the reality written here. It is racist and forbidden to ‘go public’ with such thoughts! And all these kids are LOST to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Deliberately so, due to the actions and policies of liberal democrats who see them as worthless except for their ability to keep them voted in.

>>It sounds a lot like prison.

Then the school is doing a good job for preparing them for their collective futures...

How long before a homeschooling advocate takes the wrong message away from this?

I really hate to take your bait, but I have to ask you a question. If for some reason your child was zoned for a school like this and you could not move into a better district for whatever reason, would you consider homeschooling an option? Just curious....

See post 54. The original article is from the Marty Nemko blog and was written by Christopher Jackson.
It has definitely had some material added to it.
I don’t know if somebody copied it, added some of their own material and posted it to Craig’s List or what.

The type of behavior described in the article is a hallmark of urban schools, not African American students ...
BS BS BS. If that were true, why is that suburban school violence is increasing all across America as the number of blacks move to (or get bussed to) the suburbs?
I live in a suburb of Rochester NY with three relatives working in the school system. They see it first hand.
Whether it's Section 8, Urban-Suburban or whatever socialist feel good excuse they use, inner city scum bring their inner city values and destroy everything they touch - schools, neighborhoods, malls - everything.

“This is the legacy of the baby boomer generation.” WRONG! This the the “legacy” of Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Hoover, FDR, JFK, LBJ and a HOST of OTHER RINOS, Democrats, GOP-e’s over the last 140 years of so.

Boomers have been in power the last 24 years.

What have they done to fix things?

Why aren’t we all standing up at local school board meetings and saying “Fix this mess or you don’t get another dime from me.”

Are you doing this?

The liberal elitist destroyed the black family. That is the bottom line.

This essay has been around for several years. It was originally published as “What it’s like to teach black children.”

Just to take any talk of genetics off the table, I want to be a witness to the fact that, in my 10-plus years experience as a college teacher, my brightest, most interesting, and most hardworking students were African immigrants, especially from Nigeria, which seems to be factory of human talent that has enormously benefited the USA.

Do you happen to remember when it was written? I feel like the first time I saw it was about four years ago. I was just looking over it again and there are a few paragraphs I don't remember, seeded in there near the middle and end. But most of the specific anecdotes look familiar.

I teach in a mostly Hispanic middle school, and we don't have many black students. Of the ones we have, the girls are usually pretty good, but the boys... well...

I agree. This is inner-city culture. I find that inner-city Hispanics are starting to act similarly, but recent immigrants from South and Central America don’t. Ditto the few African students I have had.
