The couple got Gary from a breeder in Arkansas after falling in love with his kind (the biggest rodent in the world!)

Are they good to eat?

In South America they have gotten the Catholic Church to declare them “fish” so they could be eaten on Fridays.

I had some at a Churrascaria in Brazil. Quite tasty actually. If you like rabbit you’ll probably like capybara.

I don’t trust a rat with skinny eyes.

I don't trust Obama-Pelosi-Reid-Boehner-Ryan-McCain etc.. etc.. etc.. either!

To demonstrate the killing-power of piranha, one was spooked into the water--then shot. Movies of the aftermath eventually showed a large capybyra skeleton.

OTOH, if the capybyra is as smart as the squirrel (another member of the rodent family) at your birdfeeder, there's much to worry about if they get "loose".

Another "rodent" is the beaver, who recently bit a fisherman in Belarus, who died of his wound.
