Can’t think of anything new so they haul out the oldies and remake them. Then they think the public will pay $50 to see them???
Sadly, the public will. They just decided to make a "dark and gritty" rehash of Superman I & II rather a new Superman storyline, and even a bunch of freepers were praising that soutlless Transformers wannabe. Superman II was fine and didn't need to be "reimagined". The Spider-Man "reboot" was even worse -- they were remaking a movie that only came out 10 years ago and was done perfectly fine the first time around.
I wish people would stop paying money for these lazy warmed over storylines. The new Star Trek film was working fine as its own story in the first half the film, then they just HAD to recycle stuff from Wrath of Khan. If you try to copy Wrath of Khan, you're going to fall short no matter what you do.
Hollywood has always recycled ideas but they're really starting to nuke the fringe lately. Now they're remaking Carrie after they JUST remade it 10 years ago. ENOUGH ALREADY!
Marvel and DC comincs are the R&D division of Hollywood.
And when Broadway can't think of anything new, they turn to Hollywood.
Entertainment dollars are not best spent in a movie theatre or a Broadway theater.
