OSO WAS PICKED UP BY HIS FAMILY. Most of us wished for a better life for this pup with people more committed to taking care of him and loving him forever. I'm sure Oso is happy. I hope Oso's family knows how special he is. I hope they never do something this stupid or dangerous again.
“You accidently lock your wife (or husband) and dog in the car trunk for 24 hours.”
It doesn’t need to be anywhere near 24 hours to piss off the wife.
I can’t even get my wife in the trunk, much less lock her in.
Isn’t it obvious they were mistreating it to turn it into a shelter while they went on vacation?
Personally, if I owned a dog and was going on vacation, the dog would be coming with me.
if I can’t take my boys with me I don’t go
LOL!
My dog has a better life than I do. Today she went to her dog camp where she runs all day with others dogs in 20 acres of beautiful woods and the camp provides door to door pick up and delivery service. On Friday she goes for what I call her “day of beauty” where she is groomed to the Nth degree. Right now she is sleeping on the couch. Meanwhile I was working all day.
How can anyone not love their dog is unfathomable to me.
I do own 2 dogs and they do go with us vacation. If I have to board them the stay at a cage free facility where they play all day including a 20x25 pool and at night they sleep in houses with the staff and the other dogs. My dogs get treated like the members of the family they are.
I hire a babysitter to stay at my house while I am gone. And we do the same for friends when they go on vacation.
Thank you FRiend.
Wonderful post.
And thank You, Lord, for all of the critters we share our lives with.

Oh my....
thank you.
I took my two German shepherds with me to Prescott AZ this month.
Did you check dogfriendly.com for a cabin?
Don't know the exact reason but here's my theory:
City of San Bernardino is broke (declaring bankruptcy)and their shelter is always overcrowded, which will become worse after July 4. The shelter personnel thought Oso would be better with the original family than certain death if not rescued. The SB shelter is often hard too work with so this might be the best solution for now.
If this were City of Irvine's shelter they would have not gotten the dog back. I was ready to call the Irvine shelter if they could get Oso as they will get other dogs from high kill shelters when there is room.
If you follow the Facebook page (link given in original story about Oso’s plight), there are several rescue organizations and individuals that were mobilizing to rescue Oso. When they heard that his family (low-lifes that they are) was coming to pick him up, they were trying even harder to have him place with another, better family before the low-lifes picked him up. So, they tried. I don’t know if the shelter (which kills 87% of the pets that wind up there—pathetic!) would not release the dog to an adopter since the family was supposed to be coming back to claim him, or if they just couldn’t get final arrangements made before the Low-life Family showed up to take him back home. Personally, I would never have released him back to such a horrific bunch of morons who put him in risk of his life so they could get some free boarding.

Some rescues don't follow through on their commitments so that is likely why the dog was returned.
German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County saved several dogs when other rescues committed to save but failed to show up (even though they still collecting pledges).
Well, I really feel for the dog anyway. Some pets end up in great homes, this one pulled the short straw.
