Nelson Mandela was a communist agitator, married to a mass murderer, who took the helm of modern and proserpous country and turned large areas of it into a 3rd world cess pool.

How about a Moment of Silence? I’m sure the Kenyan would see no harm in asking all Americans to observe a Moment of Silence.

(loud fart rips the air)

HEY! WHO FARTED?

SA has turned into a cesspool since the ANC took over. I know people that still live there.

I don't think we traditionally fly flags at half staff for foreign heads of state. Having said that, nothing this administration does would surprise me anymore.

As for whether they are better off now than they were then, I suppose that would depend on who you talk to. White South Africans may say no. But black South Africans would probably prefer the way things are now, with all its flaws, to life under apartheid where they had no control over their lives.

“Legacy: We hear only the good. What is the state of South Africa as a result if Mandela’s rule? Are they better off now?”

My boss has gone to South Africa on hunting trips, three times now. He also housed a foreign exchange student from there for almost a year. He describes a dangerous nation, where there are areas white just plain cannot enter at night. Specifically, his exchange student lamented that more and more areas were becoming ‘off limits’ to whites, at night.

He also described tha absurdity of the AIDS epidemic there. Some high level official had sex with an underage relative...now the media outrage over this was not the incest, infidelity, or statutory rape. No, the outcry was that he had not used a condum. Adding to the absurdity, this official retorted that he had taken a shower prior to the intercourse, which apparently is widely believed in the region to prevent std’s. So, the political discourse, during the entire time my boss was in country on one of his trips, was whether or not this guy was lying about taking the shower.

And I look at the Pistorius case. Even if you believe he is guilty, it is hard to ignore the paranoia he had, in prior Facebook posts...or the fact that he lived in a walled community with razor wire.

Such is present day South Africa - a Mad Max style world, where violence and ignorance rule the day.

Funny how a guy with a very questionable background, awarded a Nobel Peace Prize after advocating and organizing violence and murders, has been aggrandized to the point that he is akin to a saint, but enough about 0bama ...

America was instrumental in the decline and fall of the Africaans’ country and culture. America empowered the communist Mandela, so I would think that our socialist phony president will order all flags flown at half-mast and America’s phony president will kneel on his little rug, face eastward and pray to his god.

We do not lower the US flag for foreign people. I KNOW mine in my yard will not be. Neither will they at our church since I am the one who handles that also. I will not put some foreign person in the same category as US soldiers and such that we do the half mast for.

Nelson Mandela could have instantly been released from prison at any point he chose.

All he had to do was repudiate violence as a means of public debate.

Yes, he is/was a world changer, a mover and shaker, but he was the antithesis of a Gandhi.

no doubt obmmie will scurry off for the funeral, as compared to the complete no show of the US, at the Thatcher funeral in the spring.

Just like Obama, it doesn’t matter what state the country is in. It only matters that they worship him as ‘hero.’

Perhaps some rounds of Memorial Necklacing in certain neighborhoods. And outside the George Zimmermann trial.

Obama will make sure Mandela dies in the next couple of days so the funeral can be used as an excuse for his African trip.

I think Obama is going to so capitalize on Mandela's death that, by executive order:

* Flags will be lowered completely off the staff.
* Every day there will be a national moment of silence at the minute of his death.
* Our capital will be renamed "Mandela, D.C."
* Pennsylvania Ave. will become "St. Nelson Mandela Blvd."
* School children will be taught to sing "For he's our holy Mandela."
* NFL teams will wear commemorative patches with Mandela's image, and shoes and gloves in the colors of the South African flag.
* All TV award shows, every presenter and every award recipient, will pay tribute to St. Mandela.
* Anyone who objects or fails to comply will be sent to mandatory sensitivity training.
