Do Texas Freepers get a prize for the most boating accidents?
What say you?

Texas tops US in number of lost, stolen firearms
FreeRepublic tops US in number of lost, stolen firearms.
Fixed the headline.

Probably the most firearms, too.

I would guess that is because Texas has the most firearms in the first place.

As much as Texans love their guns, it’s odd that so many can be lost (wink, wink).

If you include confiscation in the category of stolen, then NY, NJ, Il, Co or Ca might be higher.

“Federal authorities say Texas has far and away the largest number of firearms in the U.S. reported as lost or stolen.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives issued a report this week showing there were 18,874 firearms lost or stolen in Texas in 2012. The figure represents 10 percent of the total national number.”
That is hilarious! All you Texans losing your guns. I suppose that’s because you keep going fishing with guns to shoot the fish and the boat tips, and.... I’m in Texas, too, and haven’t reported mine lost - yet.

Mine aren’t lost or stolen. They might be “temporarily misplaced” until who-ever is asking loses interest.

I’d like to see that study with a control of “per X firearm owners”. Texas may very well have the largest raw number of lost/stolen firearms, but that needs to be divided by the total number of owners. I’d bet that once that is controlled for, some lib hellhole will be in the top spot.
