Where Are All the Aliens?

As far as we know, Earth is the only place in the Universe where life has arisen, let alone developed an intelligent civilization.

This baffling contradiction is known as the Fermi Paradox, first described in 1950 by the physicist Enrico Fermi.

Scientists have been trying to resolve this mystery for decades, listening for radio signals from other worlds. We’ve only sampled a fraction of the radio spectrum, and so far, we haven’t detected anything that could be a signal from an intelligent species.

We don’t want to find intelligent life. We need life we can eat.

Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding. There is a realm of existence so far beyond your own you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Sovereign.

Reaper? A label created by the Protheans to give voice to their destruction. In the end, what they chose to call us is irrelevant. We simply... are.

Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident. Your lives are measured in years and decades. You wither and die. We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything.

Confidence born of ignorance. The cycle cannot be broken. The pattern has repeated itself more times than you can fathom. Organic civilizations rise, evolve, advance, and at the apex of their glory they are extinguished. The Protheans were not the first. They did not create the Citadel. They did not forge the mass relays. They mere found them - the legacy of my kind. Your civilization is based on the technology of the mass relays. Our technology. By using it, your civilization develops along the paths we desire.

We impose order on the chaos of organic life. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it. My kind transcends your very understanding.

We are each a nation - independent, free of all weakness. You cannot grasp the nature of our existence. We have no beginning. We have no end. We are infinite. Millions of years after your civilization has been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure.

We are legion. The time of our return is coming. Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. You cannot escape your doom.

Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Montgomery County, MD, Oregon, Washington State and Colorado, for a starter.

The universe is so incomprehensibly large that I have no doubt that there have been and are innumerable planets supporting life over billions of years, but each of those planets would millions of light years apart, and they would all exist at different points in time.

If the closest planet with life is a million light years away, it's just the same as if we were alone in the universe.

11,000,000 aliens in the United States, including at least one in our White House. Why would we want to find more - so McCain can invite them to our country at our expense?

If they are more advanced than us, maybe they stopped using radios a long time ago. If they are less advanced, they don’t have radios yet. Or maybe the aliens communicate some other way.

Probabilities are high they never advanced past this stage in their evolution.

Still appearing to two-toothed Mississippi and Louisana swamp drellers. If ETs are so smart what is their navagation so screwed?
