A Christian group that once promoted therapy to encourage gays and lesbians to overcome their sexual preferences has closed its doors and apologized to homosexuals, acknowledging its mission had been hurtful and ignorant. Huh? Wut?
The truth can sometimes seem 'hurtful', but it is never ignorant.
'Turn or Burn' might seem 'hurtful', but it will hurt a lot more not to turn and to spend an eternity in hell...
What were their specific apologies? If they want to apologize about their methods, then maybe they have a point. I understand that it is a 'rooters' article, so it might not be an accurate portrayal, but the article makes it sound like the Exodus Group focused on 'role playing', and never placarded the Gospel (the 'Good News' to save sinners) as the means of healing. If that's the case - sure, go ahead and apologize, you weren't doing it right.
The Lord Jesus Christ came to save sinners. We are all sinners and there is none that He cannot save. But we are not to remain in our sins (He did not condemn the woman caught in adultery, but as He said to her, 'Go and sin no more').
Repent ye therefore and be converted...

Somebody needs to aim the sensor of a well calibrated Gaydar device at Mr Chambers.

According to AFR (American Family Radio), Chambers’ rationale was that he continued to suffer same-sex attraction.
So what?
This is true also for alcoholics, rehabilitated molesters, former porn addicts, recovering druggies, etc.
It’s OVERCOMING that matters, not necessarily disappearance of same-sex attractions.
This is a betrayal of the hundreds of thousands of people who have overcome this battle and are living happy married lives — with children.
Must be a case of infiltration, as someone above suggested.

I have been reading some very disturbing things about Exodus for the last year. The leaders of Exodus have developed some very strange theological beliefs, and they have completely separated themselves from the Evangelical community. It is a good thing that Exodus is going away. If you are interested in this subject, I have found Dr. Robert Gagnon’s work in this area to be very helpful.
