Ford’s new policy is that you cannot get a stick shift in the new F-series. Out. Of. Touch.
Nice! I wish Ford would put the Ecoboost V6 in something other than their top trim levels, because the concept of a 365-horsepower twin-turbo V6 in a pickup truck appeals mightily...but not at $45k+ for leather seats and satnav along with it.
If I was getting a new vehicle now I’d seriously look at Fords; for pickup trucks I’ve always been a Mopar guy (I own a ‘96 Ram 1500 extended cab with 190k miles) but other than the trucks, Chrysler’s stuff is crap nowadays. I rented a Dodge Journey for a week last year when changing jobs and moving, and it was hideous. Uncomfortable, loud, weak engine, absolute worst attempt at a CVT I’ve ever seen, just junk. The only Mopar I’d want to get right now would be a ‘90s Cherokee (not the Grand Cherokee) with the 4.0 liter High Output I6. The engine is near-bulletproof, a worthy successor to the legendary 225 Slant Six, and the Cherokee is simple and tough. But you can’t find them anymore, nobody sells them except at a huge premium and if they’ve been ragged out.
Right now we drive a 2010 Mazda 5 that we got used the first of last year and I am mightily impressed. It’s not the fastest thing in the world, but for a 6-passenger psuedo-minivan, it handles VERY well and is fun to drive. And so far, no issues with it mechanically in a year and a half.
And yeah, pickup sticker shock is crazy. 17 years ago I paid almost $23,000 for my Ram and I thought that was insane. Nowadays I don’t think $23,000 even gets you in the door to buy a full-size truck with vinyl seats and no options.

I average between 120-160 miles a day on the ranch and it’s hard miles, lots of hills and rocky rough roads. I wear out trucks in 80,000 miles, not the motors but the running gear. I go through 2 1/2 sets of tires a year, the brakes every 30,000 and front hubs at least once a year. The GMC 3/4 ton 4x4s are the only ones that I can keep under me for at least two years, I cratered the Dodge in 40 thousand and the Ford at 55 thousand, like I said this ranch eats up trucks. Bought a 2013 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 in January and it’s already got 26 thousand on it and I’ve already had to replace the right rear passenger door due to a couple of bulls fighting by the truck.
Those were the days, love them old 390’s.
$25.7
Good price; you done good.
If folks want a truck made in the USA by non-union labor, buy a Toyota Tundra. Made in Princeton, IN. I don’t know the specifics on the Tundra, but Toyota is also very good about sourcing materials made in the USA as well. Over 90% on the Camry.
If the 1st dealer doesn't try a 2nd or 3rd. I would doubt you would have to call more than that.
And when you go to the dealer to order, mention to the sales man you could possibly take one from stock if it was near enough to what you want.
I used to sell Fords, I liked to special order to get exactly what I wanted in the color I chose. The dealer in Huntsville AL wouldn't deal, but Albertville and Lawenceburg TN did.
Congrats!!!!! Nice truck!!!
My 2013 Explorer is simply the finest vehicle I have ever owned. It is a great driver...and the 25 MPG highway is great for a 4x4 SUV. Best of all, at 6’ 5”, 280 lbs....it has plenty of room for me.
I have a 2004 Expedition, that was my daily driver prior to my 2013 Explorer. It is now my son’s daily driver. It’s a great truck
All the major banks and creditors were strong armed to take those loans...so as to not make the ones going under that needed them look bad. Or did you forget that?
Congrats. Nice looking truck.
We have a 1990 F150 that still runs great. We were looking at purchasing a new one a few years ago, but ended up getting a used 2008 F250 . We love them both.
Just go toyota tundra and don’t look back.
You can buy toyota tundra heh.
Verrrry nice truck. I’m jealous. I want one reaaaly bad. I tow a 4000 lb. travel trailer and will upgrade to a bigger trailer in a few years, so I want the eco-boost V6.
I’m guessing you have the 5.0 ltre V8? Shoot, even that motor will tow 6-8 thousand lbs. properly equipped.
I was with him 3 of the 4 times and it was NOT the floor matt over the gas pedal. The dealership could find nothing wrong with it and I guess they sold it to another unsuspecting person.
A short time later, on the news, we saw a dark red Ford p/u that a kid had crashed into a house. The kid said “it wouldn't stop”. Was it Mr Ditter’s former truck? We will never know.
I would have liked to see the insurance adjuster's face when you told him that story. :)
Nice truck! I’ve owned one Chevy truck, but never again!
IMHO they are trying to use the Grille / DNA of the Fusion which is almost Aston Martin-ish. Keeping the common theme and trying to rap that look around interesting shapes as you noted might get a little dicey.
FWIW, it may look different in person. Last week I got to see a bevy of C7 Corvettes in testing ( pre-production possibly for resale ) on the road. I thought the car was awful from the pictures in the media. In person it is a Land-Shark, oh my what a looker. Other than the goofy taillights :-)

How freakin’ stupid is that??? That said, my friend’s diesel F250 with the 6-speed tranny is an absolute bear to shift. I think he needs to take it to a mechanic to get the linkage adjusted, but he’s used to it. It about worked me to death and I’ve driven sticks for 40 years.
