Was speculating today about the announcement that the Colorado wildfires were probably arson. Being the Gov. Chickenhumpper and his gay band Progressives isn't that popular with a whole lot of groups, I wonder which has done the nasty.
ELF is always a possibility. Although they generally suck up to Progressives, they may have been burnt by Chickenhumpper and his gay band of progressives. With Progressives the end is always justifies the means.
Since a sizable portion of the Denver/Colorado Springs population are escapees from Californicate, NY, and other liberal hellholes, they may have used the old wildfire to reduce underwater non-salable properties. In the early 1990s wildfires were a popular method of eliminating complete subdivisions of non-salable houses.
Chickenhumpper and his gay band of Progressives has definitely angered residents who support the 2nd Amendment. Could they have used the old trusted method of burning out the opposition.
Ideas?
Probably a fireman.
The last huge fire out here in California was set by a fireman want to be.
just goes along with them saying the fires were set by terrorists
Yes a masturbiting one
I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of the area, but my speculation was that the underlying cause is probably the stupidity of the environmental regulators, who will not allow cattle grazing or brush fires or other measures that would reduce the dangers of out of control fires.
It’s not just what started it, but why it burned so fiercely once started. Sooner or later, fires are bound to happen, and the worst ones are in national parks and forests and other areas that are insanely managed by government idiots, in the name of being green.
Liberals or eco terrorists, take your pick. The black forest fire took out 400+ million dollar homes. Just the kind of affluent people eco terrorists are jealous of and the kind of environment they like to liberate from mans influence. This happened in El Paso county, home of Sheriff Maketa, one of the prime movers in the lawsuit against the unconstitutional and otherwise terrible people control (aka gun control) laws. He is the chief thorn in a lot of powerful sides... I absolutely would not put it past liberals to do something terrible like this, believing their end justifies the means.
There were no underwater non-saleable properties in the Black Forest before the fire - heck, there were only 3 houses under 250K (and they were wrecks). A VERY nice area with a lot of rebuilding/restarting to do.
Masterbiting? Sounds painful.
Oh, add to the suspicion the fact that where it started - upwind side of the forest, and when it started - the time of day with the highest winds... Toss in that it didn’t happen until after several days of 90 degree weather and single digit relative humidity. If you were going to try to burn down the forest and cause the most damage, you could not have picked a better set of circumstances. Bad luck? Coincidence? Or sinister planning?
It burned so fiercely because it has been dry as a bone for a few years now. Plus it has been windy. Fires can cover a lot of territory when the wind gets going. The trees were pretty dense in that area and Ponderosa Pine forests are prone to periodic fires. In a natural Ponderosa forest, fires every 3-5 years clear out the smaller trees and a lot of the dry fuels. You can’t really do controlled burns in subdivisions on private property so the fuels collect. I have witnessed several wildfires in Colorado including one that came pretty close to my house. I could see flames from my front porch. Years and years of fire suppression mean that many areas are primed for a big, crowning fire. I just spent the weekend in an area of Colorado where whole mountains for miles are completely dead from bark beetles. All it will take is a lightning strike to set them off.
You’re partially correct in the characterization of the area.
There are million dollar homes in sections of Black Forest and some of those were reduced to ashes.
But there are also as many if not more blue collar residents and horse lovers who have resided in the area for 30+ years and in no way would be characterized as wealthy or owning million dollar homes in others’ eyes.
What the majority of residents in this area have in common is Christianity and conservatism.
If an eco terrorist wanted to spread terror to a large number of people and make a statement based on name recognition...Black Forest is the area. If they wanted to rail against the evil rich people, there are other areas around CS that would make better targets.
It is a bit scary to think that sop far, neither last year’s big fires (waldo, RMNP) nor this year’s v(Royal Gorge, Black Forest) occurred in the “dangerous”, i.e. beetle killed, NW part of the state. when one of those hitsm, it may be Peshtigo redux.
A couple dozen terrorists scanning Weather.com for forecasts of Santa Ana winds could create havoc throughout California by setting off dozens of such home-made fire bombs.
It could also have been someone burning weeds or pine needles in their back yard. I have seen people doing that even on red flag days. They think they are careful and it won’t happen to them. All it takes is one ember getting into a crack on log on a breezy day and it can sit there smoldering for several days before it catches up. Then it can burn several thousand acres in a few hours.
It burned so fiercely because it has been dry as a bone for a few years now
There is one up on Wolf Creek Pass right now. Been burning for a couple of days now. There is another one close by in the west fork of the San Juan river drainage. That one is up in the Wimenuche Wilderness area. It is up to 2,500 acres as of today. The one on Wolf Creek pass is 3 miles south of the highway and Wolf Creek Ski area. We can see a large smoke plume from it. We were about 30 miles north of both fires this weekend and we watched the smoke all day. Fire was on the other side of a long ridge (several miles long) That is completely dead from beetles except for some small patches of Aspens. It is sad to see but it is natural. Natures way of cleaning and renewing. The problem is that so many houses are being built in these areas. It is scary to see and it is not a matter of if, only when these beetle killed areas go up.
I could see both the royal gorge and black forest fires from here in divide.
I agree about the timing - but that is man made. The 9th circuit has banned additional logging in the beetle kill areas - “if someone built a logging road, then some crazy might ride an ATV down it and that would be bad for the forest, doncha know. Yes, much better to let it burn down uncontrollably. Especially since the 9th circuit is in California and the fires are in colorado...
Maine went thru this 40 years ago with the “spruce budworm”. Solution back then? Clear cut the dead, plant new trees. Presto! A new crop 40 years later!
There’s no conspiracy. The Colorado Rockies are a disaster waiting to happen. Forest fires have long been a part of nature but poor forest management coupled with residential encroachment has resulted in years of fire suppression. Now the forests are filled with deadwood and beetle-kill and they’re bone-dry. One of these days a flash of lightening will be all it takes and the whole place is going to explode like the Hindenburg.
