Could be that you haven’t been shredding your mail after reading or ignoring. Anything with your ID, address or any type of identifying account or business record should always be shredded. The shredded bits should be placed with the wet garbage when you throw it out. How do I know, I’ve seen them going through the trash before the trashmen cometh!

“The shredded bits should be placed with the wet garbage when you throw it out.”

We do shred almost everything, but throw it into recycling. Thanks for the tip.

Yep, the sifting through trash is a Meth addict thing - they do it for hours. But in this case it sounds like you’re the victim of a prank. You do know that you have the right to refuse packages and parcels? It takes the problem to somebody else.

I recently bought a 1/5” x 1-3/5” shredder (Level 3 security, IIRC) for home.

When the basket is about half full, I use a rake to mix up the pieces and then put about half of the load into the trash. The remainder is mixed with new shreds until the basket is again about half filled.

I figure that if someone tries to reconstruct, they will only have half of the confetti.

The shredder was about $20. With so many identity theft possibilities, it provides better security than the 1/4" strip shredder it replaces.
