A small town in Spain has given new meaning to the phrase "doggy bag."
For a campaign to crack down on irresponsible dog owners in the town of Brunete, volunteers spent a week in February on the lookout for dog owners who failed to scoop their canine's excrement, the Telegraph reported Tuesday. They approached the owner and struck up a conversation to determine the dog's name.
"With the name of the dog and the breed it was possible to identify the owner from a registered pet database held in the town hall," a council spokesman said.
The volunteers scooped up the waste and packed it in a box with the town's insignia before sending the parcel, labelled "Lost Property," to the negligent owner's home.
The campaign, which included 147 deliveries, won an award at the Ibero-American Advertising Festival this weekend. Brunete now reports a 70% drop in the quantity of dog waste found on its streets, the Telegraph reported.
“Microstamping poop will be next.”
DNA registry actually.
Pimping the Toronto Sun?
I was being funny. Guess I failed!
“I was being funny. Guess I failed!”
In a normal world it would be funny. But we are now living in the realm of the absurd.
Doggie (poo) ping!
We have a boat in a huge marina in Ventura. Many of the live aboards own dogs. There are large patches of grass at the front of the marina every patch has a pole with the poo bags attached to them. You will never ever find poo on the grass. Every single person cleans up immediately after their dog.
At my home people who walk their dogs let them poo in my front lawn and never clean it up.
The difference amazes me.
Bingo! We had a nice lake hike here until the scumbag dog walkers started “walking” their mutts on the trail as well. Now it’s simply a dog crap trail. Waaay too many dog owners “walk” their dog so the mutt pees and craps on property other than their own. Fine the bitches!
Weasely way to deal with it!
Try my way once. Maybe you’ll end up being fined, but the message will be sent.
My FIL lives in Grand Rapids, MN, way up near Duluth. In the town center is nice park with lake and a nice beach and NO dog shiite ordinance. I’m always amazed t all the people at the beach laying out and swimming around all that dog shiite.
It’s a shame, too, it would be a nice place if people cleaned up their dogs Obama..
That is one way to remind the dog owner of their responsibilities.
No responsible dog owner should leave their pet’s dropping on the ground. The only exception is for the blind or some disabled.
+1.
