The first known Savannah cat was born April 7, 1986 when a female domestic cat gave birth to a kitten sired by an African Serval, according to the International Cat Association (TICA). It is described as a tall, lean, graceful cat with "striking dark spots and other bold markings.

my daughters barn cats bring dead mice and other critters and leave them at her garage door so she won’t go hungry..She loves her cats but says that is gross, they are also good enough hunters that she sometimes finds rabbit fur in the garage or barn
They’re just showing that they’re not freeloaders. If they brought live mice, it would mean that they thought your daughter was a lousy hunter and needed the practice. Seriously.
>>Siamese cats are not psychopaths, and they are neither frightening nor dangerous; they are gentle, predictable, and affectionate, more like dogs than cats of other breeds.
I know. I was (mostly) kidding about the Siamese (I never met a cat I didn’t like, or didn’t like me). My Himalayans act like fat Siamese and I agree with you that they are more dog than cat in their interaction with humans. Once they bond with “their human’, they become your shadow.
My wife brushes our Siamese cat’s teeth every day, without even having to hold her paws. We have four of them. They are never any trouble at all, males or females. The oldest is 17 years old. These cats are much gentler than other breeds of cats—unless they have been abused. I’ve had Siamese cats since the mid-1950s—every one of them gentle, with adults and children—somewhat like golden retrievers, my favorite breed of dog.
Yes, too rich for my blood. We get our cats the same way we get our dogs they show up in the yard with a sad look. :-)
Both excelled at inventing games. Our dearly departed buddy loved to play soccer. He would swat one of his fuzzy balls to you and expect it to be passed back. He invented the game, we did not start it. He also figured out how to pull drawers open by standing on hind legs, hooking the top with front paws, and backing up. Drove the wife crazy.
“An 8 pound Siamese scares me”
Always go male Siamese, fixed. I never had a bad male Siamese. They love everyone! Females...feh!
LOL patients on the psych unit at the hospital I use to work at do the same thing. After giving them their meds, we had to do a mouth cheek looky to make sure they swallowed.
belly laugh and I’ll tell her that....GG
I have had twelve Siamese cats—every one lovable without a mean bone in its body—dependable, predictable, gentle, kind, affectionate, highly intelligent.
The cat bit me because I picked him up and brought him to his food bowl without seeing that he had an oozing wound on his side when he came into the house.
The 300 dollar cat bite with a 50 dollar additional charge from animal control fine.
Whe have a common cat, a felix vulgaris, who walks great on a leash. He was started on leash young, thats the trick.
Then when my wife and I get married, we got two Siamese cats--my wife's idea. I realized that part of what I had loved in the kitten was the Siamese personality. We have both had many different kinds of pets, from fish to iguanas to peacocks, but like Siamese cats above all. (And I'm a dog person.) I like the way other cats look, but I like the Siamese temperament.
That Siamese were wacko was a common misconception back in the day so I jumped on it reflexively when I read your post.
My last Siamese taught herself to use the toilet when no one was looking. I was jaw-drop shocked when I went to use the loo and had to wait for the cat!
In the old days they had a dog warden who got paid on a per diem basis. Now with big Gov. They hire full time 3 fat guys in police uniforms who drive around in cop cars and issue tickets and knock on doors asking if you have a pet. The budget for this is 20 times higher than the old days.
LOL! Mine are smart—but not that smart!
She certainly was a tad bit psycho, and not afraid to use it!
My goodness, do I miss her!!! As psycho as she was, she LOVED me. I knew it, and she knew I knew it. Of course she used it against me, lol.
They do invent games. With or without you they are athletes of the house cat variety.
They’re active and extra observant. That’s how my last Siamese learned to use the toilet and opened doors, and as a kitten she flew like no other cat. Curiosity, you know.
Also, our common cat never talked till the Siamese came and taught him.
*grin* Feline is a very expressive language.
“I have 5 outdoor cats (rescued strays) and despite eating their weight in cat food each month, they hunt constantly. I love to sit out in the back yard want watch them all. Were in florida, so there is an abundance of lizards and mice. They are pure killers.”
That indicates to some degree that they hunt simply for pleasure.
