(COFFEYVILLE, Kan.) A brand new baby was attacked by a pit bull in Coffeyville. Police say the dog severely injured the two day old girl. The pit bull belonged to her family.
She was initially taken to the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries. She was then transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and is listed in stable condition.

What the heck is any 2 day old baby getting that close to a dog anyway
I agree. That should not have happened.
People too often assume that dogs think like people.
Babies and dogs should not freely interact, under supervision, until the baby is at least 6 months old.
Wrong.
Pits get all the press.
Not a pit?
We’ll never hear about it.
Killer Pom, Doxie, Golden or JRT?
Silence.

And, paradoxically, the classic Dobe “babysitter syndrome” in overdrive.
Mustn’t let the other dog near “my baby”

[there were *lots* more non-pit killings but frankly I was tired of reading them and copying the URLs]
As I said, denial. I am not advocating government, that’s what you heard, because you cannot imagine a day without your dog... They are animals. Mark Levin is my hero, but he has gone bonkers with the animal thing. Am I mean to animals? No. Do I know the difference between children and dogs? Yes. If your dog comes first you have an abnormal fixation on an animal and need some intervention. Oh, and again, where did you hear me say that I advocated government intervention? Yes, personal responsibility. Get your deadly animal out of your house if it has children in it. Gosh, that was a wacky thing to say, wasn’t it?
Yet another pit bull denier. I listen, and I watch... Of the last 20 or maybe 200 stories I have heard in the news they are ALL pit bulls. The fact that you would go through so much trouble to deny the obvious says a lot about you, and nearly nothing about the dogs. If you fall-in-love-with-can’t-stand-to-be-without a particular breed then you have inappropriate attachment issues. Time to grow up...imho.
Ridiculous. Pit bull deniers are little more than children. An embarrassing lot. It’s a dog, not the love of your life for all eternity.
No offense, but what’s your plan? Have you ever tried to pry a Pit Bull off of a child? Too late. This is the plan most people have, even the people who end up in the news. Most are not prosecuted because they have numerous witnesses claiming that they have heard the dog owner talk about their fear, and the need to keep close watch, and the great care that they take... until... oopsie.
Frog snot.
Man up and read the links.
Talk about denier.
I scratch them behind the ear. They love it.
"Gosh, that was a wacky thing to say, wasnt it?"
If wackiness is equal to confronting problems with illogical, emotional claptrap,
then a statement such as yours is prima facie evidence of wackiness.
If you have a baby and a pit bull, one or the other needs to go. You can make the decision or you can let the pit bull make the decision.
SAL!!! So good to hear from you, dear!! Hoping each day brings less sorrow for you and your family.
Hey, Sal — one of the commentators on the original article said the dog in question was actually a DOBE (got that info. from the paramedic) — talk about OOPSIE!!!! But hey, the pit haters on this thread don’t need the facts, do they?? No way. Uh uh. Just know that if it attacks it’s a PIT — because, uh, well — you know — they’re the ONLY type of dog that attack and uh, they’re dangerous, and uh, yeah, because the media said so!!!
Redneck moron. Answer to the question, “What kind of idiot has FIVE pit bull dogs and allows one of them around a two day old baby?”
If I came to your house, I would expect the chihuahua to snap more readily than the pit bull.
(No offense to your little chihuahua!)
Pit bulls are banned in Denver, Colorado. And yet, since the ban, Denver has more dog bites than anywhere else in the state.
Pits are also banned in Aurora. Since the ban started in 2006, there’s been a 30% increase in dog attacks there.
Go figure, huh?
Same mindset as gun control. BSL = idiocy in action.
Where is the article about it being a Dobe?
Impossible to mistake one for another, no matter who you are.
As a rescuer, I had to deal with morons calling everything that was ‘black and tan’ a Dobe/Dobe mix.
Would love to see the link.
Every other site on this horror story mentions *5* Pits and the possibility that the baby was near the dogs’ pens.
No mention of Dobes anywhere.
[I see few bothered to read the links with JRTs and Poms killing babies...inconvenient truths, I reckon]
