A sense of humour, as well as intent, has arrived in London with more than 180,000 German football fans descending on the capital for tonights Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Alongside preparing for the biggest game in world club football, Dortmund were yesterday also handing out flyers with a picture of a red telephone box, a double-decker bus and a sunbed that was covered, almost inevitably, by a large beach towel.

The wider and more serious message, of course, concerns the shifting balance of power in European football. For one night at least, Wembley Stadium will be the home of German football.
Further into the future and there is good reason to wonder if this will be the start of a sustained period when Bundesliga clubs can consistently surpass the recent dominance of Spains La Liga and our own Premier League.
