Dads cottage on Mullet lake close to the upper peninsular, we would get wall eye, my mother liked still fishing and broungt in more than 1 muskie, I was good at getting wall eye and my dad swore that were no damn fish in the lake...he never caught one that I remember. We always went trolling,. Ice fishing for sturgeon on rare occasion. Nothing like spending the day fishing...The only ones that grossed me out was cleaning cat fish from the river, nail them to the tree to skin and they talk to you. Freaky...but using blood suckers for cat fishing was great. Needle nose pliers to pick them up and one blood sucker would be good for 3 or 4 fish...ah well, I am too old now. But love to remember it....mom also brought in a great norther pike on one of her excursions onto the lake..

Perch is good tasting but if your not good at fillet them, they have too many bones. Went smelt dipping for the first time with dad when I was 8, after dark and walking the shore of lake Huron looking for the small inlets that they leave the lake to spawn....bucket net, and good flashlight Grew up at a great time of freedom that todays kids will never experience....thats sad :O(

Not fond of catfish. Now, cod and lobster and blue mussels off Prince Edward Island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, well, we make a pilgrimage out there every once in a while.

New Glasgow Lobster Suppers - http://peilobstersuppers.com/ - never had better. A four pound lobster, with unlimited steamed blue mussels while waiting for it to cook, well, be prepared...
