The home was built by Avon cosmetics executive Girard Henderson, who, in the late '60s, decided to construct an entire second home as underground nuclear fallout shelter "designed to withstand virtually any disaster and protect against almost any intruder," the L.A. Times reported in 1996, when the 16,936-square-foot manse was on the market for a whopping $8M. Perched beneath what was once a caretaker's house on gated property, the bunker has its own generator and fuel tank, and can supposedly sustain life for a year. There's even a guest cabanabecause obviously people would visit you down thereand a grill outfitted to send smoke up and out through the trunk of a fake tree.

Looks like the set from the bomb shelter comedy ‘Blast From the Past’.
A great flick, by the way.

What good is an underground lair if it doesn’t have a pool with sharks with frickin’ laser beams on their heads?

I’m sure we can take a chance on a girl with a pneumatic fist fist surviving out there in the wasteland.

She looks a lot better wearing t51 Power Armor.
Guess I must be of those ‘machine fetishists’ they talk about at Nick and Ralph’s. BTW...you wouldn’t happen to have an owners manual would you?

To: Norm Lenhart
    Lols.
I Put her in Brotherhood Armor too. Ditto for Boone and the NCR.
No I don't have an owners manual. But I did get the Pip Boy 3 Billion!

No problem. I’ll just use trial and error. I guess the numbness will subside in a few minuets.

I don’t care what y’all say, that place is way cool for an underground bunker. I wouldn’t mind being stuck down there for a year or two if it came to that. It doesn’t even look claustrophobic.

Yeh, the decor is not what I would choose, but it beats an old fashioned root cellar. I’d be happty with just a large studio apartment to hide out from tornadoes as well as a bit of radiation protection.
