Why would a Starfleet admiral ask a 300-year-old frozen man for help? asks Captain Kirk in his latest adventure and, after sitting through two-plus hours of the mind-numbing Star Trek Into Darkness, damned if I could tell you why.

This is a review about the new movie, not about Zachary Quinto being gay. Thank you.

There’s no way the story line is less plausible than the last one.

I don't care if it's a bad movie. All I care about is the lens flares! Are there are a lot of shiny sparkly lens flares in this one? oooo!

Why would a Starfleet admiral ask a 300-year-old frozen man for help? It isn't unprecedented:

Seems about right, judging by the massive blitz of advertising when I dared actually watch broadcast TV recently. Every commercial break had an advertisement for Star Trek (though not one Iron Man 3 commercial..), and all I could think was: If they are blowing this much money on advertising, this has got to be a bore of a movie.

Or explain exactly why that defrosted villain levels San Francisco in what almost amounts to an afterthought. This one plot element has me wanting to see the film just for this.

So now he has ruined Star Trek. I now shudder at that he will do to the New Star Wars movie.
