While many media articles are quick to inform that Douglas Shulman, a former IRS commissioner appointed by President Bush, had denied there was any targeting of audits based on politics, they have failed to publish shulman's political affiliations. Instead, by noting that he was appointed by Pres. Bush, they imply that he is republican, or favored by republicans.

However, a search shows that shulman may actually be a liberal, or, atleast, favors the democratic party, by a federal donation of $500 in 2004 to the DNC.

sources: note that washington irs officials had been informed of activity, but denied it http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-denounces-reported-irs-targeting-of-conservative-groups/2013/05/13/a0185644-bbdf-11e2-97d4-a479289a31f9_print.html

summary that shulman use to work for nasd and made campaign contribution to dnc http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/douglas-shulman/gIQAjjnrAP_topic.html

secondary verification of donation - do search for douglas shulman http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/norindsea.shtml

If anyone else can help confirm his political affiliation, it would be appreciated, as to help counter the "Bush appointee" connotation, and if verified, to spread the information to counter the mis-information. thank you

For once, it IS Bush's fault.

He should have appointed someone that would give Doug a job in Afghanistan.

Both Bush 41 and Bush 43 were fatally naive in their attempts to be "bi-partisan."

Both would often leave Dem political appointees in place, rather than firing and replacing them, even when that was their prerogative as president. Bush 43 even went as far as allowing a federal judgeship to go to a Leftist Dem, simply because the Dem's nomination had been in the pipeline under Clinton. Of course, this gentlemanly behavior was never reciprocated.

So no matter how much Dems shriek "Bush appointee, Bush appointee," we know that doesn't mean much.

Your report on Douglas Shulman political contributions is erroneous. There is another person by that name who is a very active Democrat. I could not find the reference in the Washington Post so I checked your other source. Had you not been so pleased with yourself you would of clicked on the persons information and realized that the two are different people.

I really don’t know if you are just sloppy or just don’t care if you hear what you want to hear.
