The New Normal has been canceled after one season at NBC.
The semi-autobiographical comedy from Glee's Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler marked Murphy's first half-hour comedy and aired as part of NBC's Tuesday comedy block. Boosted by The Voice, the Justin Bartha-Andrew Rannells starrer about a gay couple starting a family earned a full-season order in October despite early protests from conservative watchdog groups.

One of the reasons The Office was so good, was it had a buffoon manager, Michael Scott, and the rest of the office was mostly "normal" people and how they reacted to his oddball behavior.
Now everyone on the show is the over the top "funny guy". I'm glad it's ending next week.

It would have been cancelled last year but the axed CSI: Miami instead because it was more expensive to produce.

They did...they cancelled almost all the comedies. I am only disappointed that they cancelled Guys with Kids. My entire family like that show.

Not to worry, Modern Family and Glee were renewed. In fact, Glee was renewed for two seasons. I don’t know why all the celebration about one gay comedy being cancelled when there are many more. Now if they all were cancelled then it would be good news.
Personally, I wouldn’t be upset if all of the big 3 alphabet networks bit the dust.
I would be disappointed if CBS were shut down. What a fantastic network. They have had some fantastic family shows over the years and continue today. This is by far the best network on TV. I am so glad it is the number one network on TV. GO CBS!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! In the past, we had Touched by an Angel, Murder She Wrote, Ghost Whisperer, today we have so many to chose from...NCIS, NCIS LA, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, CSI, Survivor, Amazing Race, The Mentalist, and so many more that the entire family can enjoy.
The only ratings they care about is the 18-49 rating. You could have a 100 million people watch a show but if only a small percent that watch it are young, then it will be cancelled. Blue Bloods was renewed because it was in it’s third year and only needs one more year to get syndication so they feel it is worth supporting it. Vegas would need another 3 years before syndication which is a pretty long time especially with low ratings.
