Day Eight of jury deliberations in the Kermit Gosnell murder case ended yesterday without a verdict after more testimony from another witness was read back.
The jury heard the testimony of Adrienne Moton, the first of Gosnells former employees to testify. Moton previously pled guilty to one count of third degree murder for snipping the spinal cord of Baby D, two counts of conspiracy and one count related to corrupt organizations. Her guilty plea allows her the possibility of a lighter sentence based on her cooperation with the prosecution. She has not yet been sentenced.
Gosnell faces first degree murder for the death of Baby D, who was delivered into a toilet at his House of Horrors abortion clinic and was seen moving in swimming motions in an apparent attempt to get out of the toilet bowl. Gosnell would share culpability in the babys murder because Moton was told by him to do that with babies that delivered as the result of abortions.
The jury has so far requested to re-hear testimony related to Baby C and Baby D, both of which were directly murdered by Gosnell staff, indicating they may be trying to zero in on Gosnells role in the deaths.
The re-reading of Motons testimony was interrupted by a fire alarm after a blaze apparently erupted on the Fifth Floor. The emergency was soon under control and the re-reading of the testimony resumed.
It appears that the jury may be struggling with some of the other charges as well. They asked for files related to two of the 24 felony counts of illegal abortions past the 24 week limit.
In perhaps a glimpse into the emotional state of the jury, they questioned Judge Jeffery P. Minehart about the 227 counts of violating the 24-hour informed consent law. The Defense stipulated that the forms in all 227 files were signed on the same day as the abortion procedure was done. The jury asked if the files were the only evidence of those misdemeanor counts and whether they could issue one verdict for the entire lot of charges. The News Journal reported that some of the jurors appeared somewhat downcast when told they had to reach 227 separate verdicts on those counts.
Please join us in praying for a verdict soon and for justice. The longer this goes the higher the risk of a hung jury, and that would only prolong the national agony over this horrific ordeal. May justice come swiftly! said Troy Newman President of Operation Rescue.
The jury is, as of this writing, deliberating into their ninth day.
In other developments, Priests for Life conducted a naming ceremony yesterday for all the babies whose remains were discovered at Gosnells abortion clinic in an effort to restore dignity and humanity to them.
Next Tuesday, The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (C.U.R.E.) and several ministry partners will host a press conference and Legislative Briefing in Washington, DC titled, Abortion and the Impact on Black America
Is there a Gosnell in your community? The press conference will be held on May 14 at 9:30-11:00 am at the National Press Club. (More information)
To the headline: Then why the hell don’t they hang his ass.
My thoughts exactly.
Unless they are back there hand weaving the rope.
Because they still have anoher 143 rounds of YEA OR NAY votes to conduct.
(correction) ...another...
Get the jury to watch “Children of Men” and then the jury will hang Gosnell themselves.
The more this drags on, the more I expect a hung jury...which the libs will then pronounce as exoneration.
I have not thought about this before, but I do feel sorry for the jurors.
How horrible to hear the testimony, see the pictures, day after day. Soul killing.
It’s taken a toll on me and I pretty much turn away from it every time I hear it. It’s beyond disgusting and horrific, IMHO.
The jury holdouts have to wake up and just start voting yes at some point on the ones where they’re iffy.
Pile of definite guilty, pile of definite not guilty, keep working on what’s left.
I mean, if you know the guy killed a lot of babies, and it’s disgusting to think about, at a certain point, convict on those remaining charges and go home. If there are plenty of convictions and the last few charges no one can agree on, then acquit on those and go home.
No sense wallowing in that ugliness any longer than you have to. Just make sure that there’s no reasonable doubt that he killed at least one baby. Then at that point, you know he’s guilty of murder. IMHO.
People can get frazzled and go in emotional logic circles sometimes.
Gosnell did not commit war crimes, but his deeds are no less horrific. This man needs to be found guilty and sentenced to death (if there is a death penalty in Pennsylvania).
I would suspect that after this is all over there will be some jurors who will find themselves suffering from nightmares and other trauma related incidents. There is just no way someone who has any thread of conscience, even if they are a die hard pro-choice, can look at those pictures and listen to the testimony and not be affected.
Only one way to get through it, prayer.
“I do feel sorry for the jurors”
I do as well. This has been a very long trial, filled with horrors for anyone with a heart.
Now they have to sift thru more than 200 charges.
Tough job.
If Gosnell gets off from the more serious charges, I blame the persecution complex of the prosecution. They have intentionally stacked every niggling charge that they could find, hoping to get some type of ‘guilty’ verdict from the over-loaded jury, instead of presenting a solid, evidentially-factual presentation of the egregious criminal acts.
I feel bad for the jurors as well, but it might be a blessing if they have to do another trial, more of a chance for the media to be pressured into covering abortion and the evils of it.
The babies are in heaven now, and let their deaths have the most impact that they can to hopefully save other babies from suffering the same fate.
>> Then why the hell dont they hang his ass.
Or a bolt cutter on his C5... in spirit of his travails.
My fear as well
Is this an OJ jury?
That’s my question.
This is an open and shut case IMO.
Guilty.
“... I do feel sorry for the jurors... how horrible to hear the testimony..”
I agree. I have forced myself to read the articles but there were times that I walked away for a few minutes, came back, read a bit more.. The jurors couldn’t do that. They have to hear it and look at it without escape. I am sure that this case will stay with them the rest of their lives. How couldn’t it? In the future, if they see a newborn baby... what will they immediately think or what picture will pop up in their mind? That being said... I would have volunteered to be on the jury for no other reason than to get justice for those nameless, precious gifts of God that were tortured and killed.
Usually, when the jury deliberates this long, there is a good chance for a hung jury verdit. This moster needs to be found guilty and hopefully, receive multiple death sentences.
If he was found not guilty of all counts, could he get his MD licese back from PA?
