This makes me want to take a complete course of study in metallurgy.

Waaaay cool. I have a close friend who, at age 54, headed off to gunsmith ing school in Colorado. Ben there since July and is loving it. I am jealous, but already looked over my, ummm, toys, to see what I want him to work on. :-)

Thanks for posting. I just watched all 10 parts.
Incredible to see the entire process.
I’m in the process of building myself an AR (more like assembling compared to that guy). Would love to incorporate some of the ideas of early rifles into it now that I’ve seen that video.

The entire Gunsmithing collection (113 GB, yikes!) has been uploaded to Pirate Bay. I recognized video # 2 from the link and it’s part of the collection. Good luck though getting all 100+ movies but it’s a keeper.

I’m surprised the government hasn’t gone after them for technical international publication of information about how to make weapons.

Up to the 70s you could buy good barrels all over the place for 50 bucks or less, those days are gone!

Narrated by David Brinkley. An anchorman from an earlier time when NBC actually reported news.

So according to this I could make a muzzle loader from a long piece of black steel pipe.... Interesting.

Nice. I visited Colonial Williamsburg about 20 years or so ago. The gunsmiths had a demonstrated boring the barrel. They then had a demonstration by the rifle team, who were using rifles made there at CW. Awesome.
Lots of stuff to see and do there, well worth a visit .
