WASHINGTON (AP) -- Any day now, billions of cicadas with bulging red eyes will crawl out of the earth after 17 years underground and overrun the East Coast. The insects will arrive in such numbers that people from North Carolina to Connecticut will be outnumbered roughly 600-to-1. Maybe more.

Or my brains are damaged.

Can’t find a harness to fit ‘im, though.

LOL
Back when the Vietnamese were coming into this country, a large group came to NJ, settled down and some opened restaurants. Then cats started disappearing from neighborhoods! Sure enough, the BOH found them in the restaurants. The Vietnamese saw the cats and thought they were just animals prowling around. They didn’t understand the idea of “pets”! Gads!
My husband saw a group of orientals in the parking lot of a cattle sale barn. They were butchering a calf that they had just bought at the sale barn, in the trunk of their car.
lol (and ducking ;-)
On an optimistic note, verily it is written : no apocalypse til Cubs win the Series
you can relax awhile . . .
No way.
Same here... some years more than others but I see them every year.
LLS
LOL!!
I ululate in your general direction!
Cool, I’ve loved watching the Cicadas ever since I was a kid. I live in Baltimore, house for sale, moving to a non-Cicada area (FL) as soon as it sells. I am actually hoping it doesn’t sell too fast just so I can be here for my last Cicada summer!!!
Used to know two brothers who would take Cicadas or big grasshoppers and put them under a cork with about three feet of line to the hook. They used a small split shot weight which would let the bait surface and then sink again. They caught a lot of big fish doing that.
The Cicadas hit DC in 70, 87 (I got married that year) then again in 2004 they won’t be here till 2021.
These Cicadas are natives and natural born American critters and naturally follow the condition of their fathers and succeed to all their rights.
They have been here long before the American revolution and the author even noted that Thomas Jefferson once wrote about an invasion of this very brood at Monticello, his home in Virginia.
Cicadas are more American than the creature child of the Kenyan in the white house.
(wink)
I guess there are various kinds of locusts. Lucky us.
You just had to make us all look, didn't you? Now you've gone and ruined a perfectly good thread with something so gross, we need eye bleach to get rid of it!
Thank you, Mr. Lenhart!!
(ok, so it wasn't such a big deal, but you know I have to give you crap for it :-)
Good point!
