The relationship between cats and cardboard is something that every feline friend knows all about. However now there is actual video evidence that this is not just your average house cat phenomenon. Watch this great video of lions, bobcats, and other adorable big cats frolic with (appropriately sized) cardboard boxes, and live out the motto of "if I fits, I sits." If you want to learn more about these cats check out BigCatRescue.org.

I was recently teaching a 10 year old guitar student in her beautiful home, when a huge 60” TV was delivered.
“I can’t wait till Dad opens that,” she said, “So I can play with the box!”

Hilarious! It looks like the black kitteh is trying to escape from that mysterious moving box coming right at him. The white one could be our Beaux - he’d do something like that, then be freaked out for hours.

Of all the toys we have bought for our cats, a cardboard box is their favorite.
Always one in the kitchen, when they finally rip it up, just replace it with another.
We get drinking water by the gallon jugs, it comes in a 6 gallon container cardboard box, the boxes never get thrown away.
New cheap toy every week, LOL.

I am forever amazed at how similar housecats and large cats are in their mannerisms.
If our little fluff ball were 30 pounds heavier, we would have been eaten a long time ago. Thank God she is content to shed all over us!

You got THAT right! We must have hundreds of $$ worth of crinkly tunnels, whirligigs, balls with feathers, balls with dingle bells, soft balls, hard plastic balls, big stuffed mice, small stuffed mice, squeaky mice, catnip furry rats, you name it, and after a few minutes it's ho hum, what else you got?! But ANY new box, or large paper bag, by simply throwing it on the floor, can occupy them for days. They invent all kinds of games and uses for them. How we DO indulge our babies.
Large take-out bags, like from Outback, that have handles to them, we discovered we have to cuts the handles or else they get them around their necks and race off with the bag following. It gets pretty funny but we don't want them to attempt that when we aren't around to free them. Our Stella had the habit of sticking her head in a square kleenex box and then racing around bumping into the walls she can't see! Sometimes they pay for themselves in entertainment value alone. ;o)

The only other toy that they always play with is a round deal about a foot and a half in diameter with a circular grove around the edge where a heavy duty ping pong ball can go round and round.
They can't get the ball out of the grove and loose it.
Only bad thing is in the middle of the night you'll hear rattle, rattle, rattle, rattle.
Either me or my wife will have to get up and turn it upside down till the morning.

Got one of those! Beaux is the only one who plays with it, but he does it the lazy way...lying on his side, tapping the ball with his front leg and, when it comes around, tapping with his back leg. He'll do that for a long time. Lately, he's been “over it”. Stella likes to ambush Beaux with her crinkly tunnel sometimes. What's hilarious is she sticks her head into the tunnel with the rest of her body poking out, but somehow, she thinks nobody can see her. She waits for the other kitteh to walk by and she zooms out to get him. I know he knows she's there, but I think he wants to play the game with her. This usually leads to a game of “tag, you're it” until Stella is bored and she bops Beaux in the nose.

Cats are self-assured, because they study up - they plan ahead....that's why they seem to be so fearless. :)
