At the two-thirds mark for meteorological spring, 2013 was the second coldest spring on record – slightly warmer than 1975.

ScreenHunter_157 Apr. 26 06.02

Data is from here : Index of /pub/data/ghcn/daily/hcn/

But 1975 had an unusually warm May at 17C. The two warmest months of May were in 1934 and 1896.

Both graphs above show the average of all daily temperatures at all US HCN stations, calculated per year.

The forecast for the first two weeks of May is well below normal, so odds are that the spring of 2013 will be the coldest on record in the US.  This is what Fort Collins looked like at 7pm today (May 1.)

Crack government scientists with supercomputers, predicted in January that this spring was going to be super hot!

Cold Spring? That means Al Gore must be on a global warming tour.

We will have frost tonight in Tulsa ok. Record low. Clearly a result of man made global warming. What else could it be?

I love it. Back in the 70’s snow was very common week to week in the SE. The liberals will never admit their entire ideology is based on a bunch of whackos and we really are not in charge.

Grand Design by a Creator is completely against their fold.

Let them wallow in misery, the fed will ensure to keep them there.

California Spring Fire: Unusually Strong Santa Anas, Dryness

May 02, 2013; 4:40 PM

A quickly spreading wildfire, called the Spring Fire, is burning in Ventura County, Calif. According to the Ventura County Fire Department, it has forced hundreds of evacuations on Thursday. As of 12:00 PDT Thursday, the fire was estimated at 2,000 acres, and it was still spreading. At least 600 firefighters are on the scene.

Along with heat, there are gusty winds and very dry conditions in place.

Winds of 30-40 mph are not helping matters. This magnitude of wind can quickly fan the flames of fires.

Relative humidity dropped as low as 2-3 percent on Thursday. Vegetation is so dry it is more like it would be in the middle of the summer...

The Los Angeles area is forecast to experience 90-degree temperatures for the first time this season before the week ends.

Temperatures are projected to reach record highs for the date Thursday in San Francisco and could challenge the record in San Diego Friday.

Last month was the coldest March on record for us (Virginia). Our average temperature for April is in the 70s, but we’ve been consistently 10-15 degrees below normal. It almost got chilly with the windows open today.

I dislike the heat, so I’m loving it.

Ya Think!?!!?

We had 7 inches in March and then another 6 Six just a few days later.

And now, even as I type this Kansas City is a Snow Deluge!!!

Its gonna kill my garden and freeze my Fully Bloomed Lilac's.

Thanks for that Al Gore. You Suck!

That makes sense. Global warming can lead to increased snows, cooler summers, and record cold springs. Al Gore would explain it, but we’re not Nobel Prize winners, so we wouldn’t understand.

Sorry to hear that. I'm enjoying 73f days and 55f nights. I don't know how long it will last. Our seasonal high at this time of year is 60f.
