Study: Food, skin allergies increasing in children

Parents are reporting more skin and food allergies in their children, a big government survey found.

Experts aren’t sure what’s behind the increase. Could it be that children are growing up in households so clean that it leaves them more sensitive to things that can trigger allergies? Or are mom and dad paying closer attention to rashes and reactions, and more likely to call it an allergy?

“We don’t really have the answer,” said Dr. Lara Akinbami of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the senior author of the new report released Thursday. …

Gee, could it be all the chemicals in the water system, LIKE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS! Massive amounts of chemically manufactured female hormones are expelled from the body and are polluting our water supply.

Could these pills also account for the massive increase in breast cancer rates as well as rates of autism, particularly in boys?

possibly?

Um, this is happening for the same reason that more people have glasses/contacts: Society has evolved to the point where such issues are not terminal, so people with the genetic predisposition for these problems survive -- and have kids.

That in and of itself is not a bad thing.

There is a flip side, though: Stupidity (i.e., being too useless to be productive but useful as a democrat voter) and promiscuity (i.e., have 5 baby mommas) is actually a cultural advantage with little down side. As a result, we are also seeing a lot more of that. Evidence: Obama was elected twice.

What about all the kiddos who are being given meds for ADD and ADHD? Who knows what the long-term effects of their ingestion will be. And it seems like nobody cares.

My son and his male friends were allowed to run, play, fidget and be more interested in playing in the dirt than doing schoolwork. Now that they have their own sons, they expect them to just be quiet, compliant and studious, “like their sisters”. Just not normal.

I think it is all of the adulterated food. The junk the chineses do to food products as well as thing the US uses like brominated vegetable oil etc...

I think all the medication being dumped in the water supply is also a factor.

The knee-jerk reaction that is so common today will blame food/chemicals for every ill that happens to get hyped by our sorry ass excuse for a media. These same chemicalphobes never manage to consider that the "research" supporting such nonsense is rife with highly flawed studies, data dredging, flagrant misdiagnoses, and all kinds of tests that provide misleading results.

As a result, 30% of the population believes they suffer from some sort of food allergy, when less than 5% of adults actually do. Most people couldn't explain the difference between an allergy and an intolerance. Our food supply has never been safer, while providing variety that previous generations could only dream of.

Our country would be much better off if every student was required to take, and pass, classes in chemistry, biology, and economics. Instead, we have a population that is obsessed with diversity and "sharing the wealth," but doesn't know jack squat about how the human body works, or how all that food ends up in the grocery store.

It is the feminization of boys. Real boys aren’t wanted. Girls with penises are the plan.

I would be willing to bet on GM foods being responsible for the food allergies. If it can kill or repel insects and disease, it can screw with your body.
