Roger Waters hates his fans so much he built a Wall between him and them and people still paid to see that crap.
And Springsteen !? LOL Was turned off by this multi-millionare droning and moaning on about the plight of the working man while flying around in private jets from his mansions. Hey "Boss" practice what you preach, give 99.99% of your money back. What? No? Thought so.
Spot on to me, although I wouldn’t complain too much if Marley slid off the list for numerous others.
Roger Waters IS a musician and if we’re supposed to be talking about his musicianship then...YEAH! He’s damned good musician.
When I was in college I went out with a girl from a decaying industrial town outside of Pittsburgh. She absolutely loved his album “The River”. I listened to it and told her, “He’s mocking the people you think he cares about. He thinks they’re trash.”
Well, so much for that relationship.
Pastime Paradise and Village Ghetto Land were pretty good yet, in general, I agree...especially w/ #1. Springsteen was on the covers of Time and Newsweek at the same time which was the first I had ever heard of him...imagine my disappointment upon actually hearing his crap.
Well I certainly agree about The Doors, but I know very few musicians who don’t recognize the likes of Pink Floyd and Marley as true innovators with extraordinary talent.
Floyd’s lyrics in The Wall might be “self centered” but the work itself is universally recognized as a piece of musical genius. Marley created a completely new, fresh, and thrilling sound from the Trenchtown slums - did about 10 things extraordinarily well and was the first to do them - and that’s more than I can say even for the Rolling Stones.
On the political business, if that were a criterion I’d never enjoy a music track or a Hollywood movie.
Never could understand the Doors popularity! As a musician, I thought they sucked! And Morrison was so pretentious that it hurt! Back then I was a big Zappa fan.
kd Lang.
He’s wrong about Bob Marley but spot on about the rest.
My sister’s appraisal of Springsteen’s vocal prowess is one that I can’t best: the man sounds like he is constantly defecating (and struggling with the effort to boot) when he attempts to sing.
If Waters isn’t bleating antisemitic drivel or wallowing in self-pity over the father he lost in WWII, he won’t shut up about Syd Barrett, who was himself overrated. Face it, Roger: Gilmour is a darn good musician by contrast, and Floyd wouldn’t be what it became without him. Get the reunion done and stop shafting your fans; even the Sex Pistols had reunion shows.
When I found out what Marley’s “religion” was, I just shook my head. Haile Selassie?
I agree on Springsteen most definitely. I don’t agree on Pink Floyd. The others, kind of indifferent.
Reverse list of writer/musicians ?
Zappa would be near to No.1 . Clever, funny, inventive and a fine guitar player to boot.
That is funny and so true. The only Springsteen that I've remotely liked is Dancing in the Dark.
I smell a ‘Rick Rolled’ coming up.
Cyndi Lauper
Sheryl Crow
Cher
The freak from Culture Club ... thankfully, I don’t recall its name.
No worst musician list is complete without Michael Bolton
Bob Marley is classic and timeless.
None of these bands are over-rated IMHO.
Was turned off by this multi-millionare droning and moaning on about the plight of the working man while flying around in private jets from his mansions.
You hate him, as do I, but it is not because of his music.
Lady gaga? She can’t help it if she was born that way...
They forgot Phil Collins
Pompous overblown ass with simplistic crap that is only suitable for garbage Disney movies now.
And for anyone that disagrees, I have three words:
