Absolutely the most over rated band in history. Saw them twice and they sucked both times.
Agreed! I love Jerry Garcia Ties, but can not stand to listen to their music!
Two questions:
Why did you see Furthur twice?
Why would you see anyone a second time after they sucked the first time?
“Absolutely the most over rated band in history. Saw them twice and they sucked both times.”
I saw them once, and all they did was tune-up their instruments. They never actually played a song.
But it was good enough for the Dead-Heads.
Oooh, that’s harsh. I love the Dead. Saw them several times at Cal Expo Amphitheater when in high school and college. I listen to more death metal these days, but I love a lot of old hippie music.
I could not disagree more, and I was not a fan. It would be interesting to know which band(s) you think are not overrated. For example, I think the Rolling Stones were very overrated, but that is a matter of personal taste in what I like to hear and not in their musical abilities. I now think the Grateful Dead were the best live jam/rock/etc band ever. Other bands had moments/years (like Allman Brothers Band with Duane). I just know the sound I like to hear. Two famous men who heard about everyone from those decades said it best:
"They're not the best at what they do, they're the only ones that do what they do." Bill Graham employed all the best bands from the 1960s onward. He knew them all and there were alot of great bands thay played wonderful live performances at his venues.
Bob Dylan's press release regarding Jerry Garcia's death
"There's no way to measure his greatness or magnitude as a person or as a player. I don't think any eulogizing will do him justice. He was that great, much more than a superb musician, with an uncanny ear and dexterity. He's the very spirit personified of whatever is Muddy River country at its core and screams up into the spheres. He really had no equal. To me he wasn't only a musician and friend, he was more like a big brother who taught and showed me more than he'll ever know. There's a lot of spaces and advances between The Carter Family, Buddy Holly and, say, Ornette Coleman, a lot of universes, but he filled them all without being a member of any school. His playing was moody, awesome, sophisticated, hypnotic and subtle. There's no way to convey the loss. It just digs down really deep."
I suspect you saw two concerts from the 80s or 90s.Grateful Dead Projects is a collection of great jams from concerts that span the band's career.
Dead music never did anything for me. I did appreciate the cute hippie chicks though.
"This music sucks."
