In the tip of the day on its Earth Day website, the Environmental Protection Agency tells visitors that topping off ones gas tank hurts the environment.
During hot weather, don't top off your gas tank, the tip on the home page says. Even a small gas spill adds to air pollution and wastes fuel.

“Now, those CRAB-compliant gas cans are a different story.”
No kidding! I have spilled more gas because of the liberal whacko designed gas cans than ever before.
Meanwhile, we got this stuff out of the earth.
Do tar pits also kill the earth? That’s mostly complex carbon compounds.
Well, I for one would never spill gasoline on the ground. It isn’t like it came from there or anything.
who can afford to top off the tank these days?
Who the *bleep* can afford to fill ‘er up these days?

Didn’t the gas come out of the ground in the first place?
Ever have the pleasure of having the stupid screw on part break will pouring and have it dump half the can out in two seconds, on everything but the part where you want the gas to go? Stupid hippies. I really enjoyed cleaning up the gallon of gas it spilled on my generator in the freezing cold in the dark. Idiots.
“Topping off your fuel tank?” What’s that? I put in $15 a week and haven’t “topped off” in aboooout....six years.
Screw you, busybodies. I will decide when and how much I drive, not you fokkers (pardon me, but I am really PO'd).
Just ONE trip of AF1 for the endless campaigner in chief would fuel how many cars for now many miles? How many passenger miles per gallon does AF1 and The Beast combined get?
Sounds like you have exceptional bladder control...

I got a tip for them. ;-] sharp, pointy, ..
The only time I had a spill was right after I turned the pump on. I looked at it to make sure it was on and my hand naturally followed. I smelled like gasoline for a while when I went in a store. I learned a lesson that day a few years ago.
We had a gravel driveway when I was growing up as a kid, although my dad attempted to “asphault” it one oil change at a time.
Yeah, but don’t forget to fill your tires.
And I always make sure to light a cigarette before filling the lawnmower, tiller, or genset. If you can't do that, you need rinsed out of the gene pool.

I belched several times today. Sorry. I’m so bad.
I usually ignore the EPA about everything it presumes to preach on; but this (communist) May Day I plan to top off with gusto, even though I really don't need gas yet.
Among my top 5 Federal alphabet soup agencies that we could have done without ---- ever.
