In the tip of the day on its Earth Day website, the Environmental Protection Agency tells visitors that topping off ones gas tank hurts the environment.
During hot weather, don't top off your gas tank, the tip on the home page says. Even a small gas spill adds to air pollution and wastes fuel.

FU EPA
I’ve got a great “Earf Day” tip for the EPA but Jim would throw me off the site.
Go Earf yourself?
You and me, both...
Those people can kiss my butt. I think I will slosh some on the ground just to piss them off.
I top off, for fun and entertainment.
I dealt with EPA my entire career. I think many of you would be shocked at their tactics. Probably the closest thing we have in this country to the Gestapho.
They re LYING.
1. The bulk storage tanks underground are VENTED TO THE ATMOSPHERE. Tens of thousands of gallons in the storage tank are vented to ATMOSPHERE, what the HELL difference does a half ounce of gas outside make?
2. topping up DOES NOT cause spills or excess emissions from the purge system in a car. The pumps are designed to shut off the instant the fuel reaches the filler neck inside the tank.
Liberals = Liars
As in the bald faced lie about unplugging the cell phone charger, they take a small bit of outdated information and try to apply it to today. Modern cell phone chargers are SWITCH MODE POWER SUPPLIES that dont draw any power when not charging. They are as good as unplugged when the phone is disconnected.
I f@rt in the EPA’s general direction
Advice for the Little People.
Meanwhile, our congressional Masters - and hussein himself - fill their gas guzzlers to overflowing and send the bill to the taxpayers.
Save trees and wipe you ass with your bare left hand.
Pour gas on floor of garage, add Tide, scrub and hose off and wash down the street!!!
Comes clean every time!!!
Bring back the smog of the 40s and 50s in los Angeles and maybe all the complaining easterners will go back to where the came from!!!
If I fill my tank, (i.e find a station with a good price) I normally give it a extra click to make sure it is full. I have never had a spill because of that. Ever.
Now, those CRAB-compliant gas cans are a different story.

I have dealt with them and their ilk since their inception and you’re right, they are like the gestapo.
I always manually retract the vapor hood and visually fill to the top. It's difficult on some pump styles that have a tight trigger or the long boot, but most of them are set to dispense at a graduated rate.
I LIKE having an extra day between fills, or the ability to get 525+ miles out of a tank on my truck on a road trip...
Close to what I do, but in the country after we scrub and hose off I send a match in a graceful arc and let it burn off while it’s running down the driveway.
Liberals are idiots. Want watch a liberal go insane? Pour gas on the ground. They’ll claim it’ll take “millions of years for Earf to heal herself!”
