A B.C. filmmaker says he's lucky to be alive after narrowly avoiding a grizzly attack while filming in the Robson Valley, southeast of Prince George. Leon Lorenz, who lives in Dunster, B.C., was filming grizzly bears in a nearby valley last Monday evening when he spotted a bear and her cub. Lorenz said he took cover behind a spruce tree so he could film the bears without disturbing them, but the mother bear picked up his scent.

Bears charge more than twinks.
Okay, that just made my blood run cold as ice. I can’t even imagine being torn apart by one of these bears. I even fear the name.
Beautiful but so deadly. Can we send two of these to Congress. They would take care if things pretty fast.
Climbing a tree doesn't help either. Sometimes only 6-8 well placed slugs from a 45 magnum will do the 'stop the charge' trick.
Hope the photog had a change of underware with him...I’m sure he needed it!!
That's what I was thinking. Don't know if I would've waited so long to start shooting. Fascinating that she broke off the charge. Scared not only for herself, but her cub, too, I guess.
Those bears are sure quick.
Maybe it’s just me but I think anyone entering grizzly country to do some filming while the bears have cubs is just begging to be eaten......
Thank you! My first thought was to wonder why he was that close, and not even in a blind to do his filming-they are BEARS, not rabbits...
I have a somewhat keen reminder of what it’s like. I was at this ranch, dismounted with the horse out of reach, when a bear cub came running out of the treeline straight at me. It was probably thinking “How cute, a human”. I figured I was pretty much dead at that point, because the mama bear soon followed. Long story short, somehow I escaped unscathed, and the bear was later tracked down and shot.
"..he'd have to run through miles of **** to get to me, not to mention the little girl screaming"
It’s a good thing the bears were scared away by that first shot because he wasn’t going to get off a second one.
Here’s the same video, two years old:

He bearly escaped. I guess the Mom just could not bear to eat him. :-)
