Where do you stand? (Or sit)?
I don’t fly. As a fellow fat guy, I feel it’s my responsibility to not infringe on others due to my size.
I suspect the poor people that are sat upon by the overweight are far more humiliated.
As Confucious said, no one can humiliate you unless you have humiliated yourself first.
I’m an ordinary sized male; 184 pounds, 6’ tall; not an ounce of fat. I have several times sat next to generously proportioned people who lapped over into my seat so I had to sit sideways, tipped up on one butt cheek for an entire trip. I think if you’re bigger than the seat you should be required to buy two seats.
No body should trespass into my territory.
The reality is that if you are very fat, you need to think about booking an extra seat if you travel by air. You can’t simply assume that you will fit in your seat. The reason “humiliation” occurs is because heavy people deny reality and book only one seat. Coach class seats are small even for people who aren’t obese.
You have not flown recently have you?
The seats are so narrow now that a child can infringe upon other’s space.
True story. I was on a flight when a gigantic larda$$ flopped into the seat next to me (isle side) He asked if he could raise the armrest. I said "No, that's the only thing keeping more of you out of my seat." He was really pissed, but he didn't raise the armrest.
Forky pig.....
Get over yourself you baby. I sat on a plane next to a guy who mustuh weighed 340#’s.
Thankfully there was no one in the isle seat at take off, so I sidled over into the isle seat and we were both comfortable and happy.
He thought he was going to spend two hours pressing himself into the chassis of the plane so I wouldn’t be uncomfortable.
Told him not to worry. God fixed it for us. Spread out and relax. Real nice guy too.
They’ll be making a special seat sections for those with weight issues....and charge them more for that as a two seater, in the future I think.
Everytime someone has kissy fits about pretty much anything today....accomodations are made to offset potential lawsuits.
ever have an extra ticket at a football game and have your extra seat occupied by half of someone else who thinks its just extra room?
“Spillage” is annoying. If you’re super fat you should use the humiliation as a wakeup call to exercise and get your weight down. The airline seat issue is the least of your problems.
Tough. Next time buy two tickets.
Probably should charge more. Same rationale as charging for checked baggage. When defying gravity, the more weight you have, the more defying you have to do!
Fat people should have to buy two seats. They weigh the same as two people, and nearly take up the same space. He should be embarrassed for being so obese.
One of my employees was pretty heavy at one point. On the rare instances when she had to fly, she booked 2 seats, even paid for the extra one herself.
Should have made Mr Fat A$$ buy two tickets(I am OVER 300 Lbs myself).
what needs to happen is that we need to ALL demand larger seats, more room for our legs....if they want to build big single seats for bigger people, and charge a little more, they should do it....
air travel is insanely inhumane as it is today...even for the skinnys....but instead of blaming themselves, the airlines go after an easy target ..big people...
OR fly first class. The seats are significantly bigger.
