In fact, the rush beginning in December has been high even by historic standards: the FBI conducted just under 2.8 million background checks on prospective gun buyers in December 2012, the highest number in any single month since records begin in November 1998. Thats more than triple the number it was running in in December 2002.
And the rush has continued through 2013 so far. Heres the number of monthly background checks in the first three months of each year since 1998. This year looks set to be the busiest ever.

It is no coincidence that Obama favorite GE just decided to screw gun shops.
If you got some extra cash lying around, we could open up “The 2nd Amendment Bank of America.”
The people have been loading up on guns and ammunition, and the beautiful part of it is, the government has absolutely no idea of who these people are or how many guns they have or how much ammunition. A rainy day fund against tyranny.
Here's a for-instance. How exactly (yes or no) would you answer a question like "Are you in favor of needed precautions like background checks for maniacs that would PREVENT the senseless murder of YOUR children like those needlessly massacred at Newtown?"
Or:”If stricter gun control would prevent YOU from being shot, would you be in favor of that?” Seems like the “if” part is ignored. NO law will prevent this stuff and sadly we get it and the opponents don’t get it. Lacking in cognitive/comprehension skills.
Why would a gun store need to borrow money? Right now they should be awash in the stuff.
A new rush on ‘gun’ stores???
When did the OLD rush end?
Like I said, not really “new” news but does show the latest in inter-galactic background checks thru March of this year. Maybe the article should have been titled “Stampede continues for gun buyers”.
Stampede continues for gun buyers
MUCH better.
They use credit to purchase inventory. Then the cash comes.
Once they get moving it does sound like it should be self sustaining. Doesn’t it.
More than likely many use a line of credit for routine needs, as do many small businesses.
