Man Dies in Police Raid on Wrong House
ABC News ^ | Vicki Brown

Posted on 04/24/2013 6:06:11 PM PDT by Altariel

A 61-year-old man was shot to death by

police while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug

raid on the wrong house.

Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door.

The two officers, 25-year-old Kyle Shedran and 24-year-old Greg Day, were placed on administrative leave with pay.

“They need to get rid of those men, boys with toys,” said Adams’ 70-year-old widow, Loraine.

John Adams was watching television when his wife heard pounding on the door. Police claim they identified themselves and wore police jackets. Loraine Adams said she had no indication the men were police.

“I thought it was a home invasion. I said ‘Baby, get your gun!,” she said, sitting amid friends and relatives gathered at her home to cook and prepare for Sunday’s funeral.

These no-knock SWAT raids need to stop. These are dark times in America.

as part of the white community, they pissed me off about this as well. color meansnothing, no-knock raids on wrong houses need to result in jail time, loss of pensions, firing of police chiefs and disbandment of swat teams. nothing less is acceptable.

Murder an innocent man and be placed on administrative leave with pay?!

There is truly no hope. The end has begun.

The cops had no warrant to enter this home. What they did is a crime. His shooting was a murder not mistake.

So no one, in planning the “raid”-—put up pictures of the perps?........so the young inexpeirienced cops could see the diff between the 70 yr old man and a couple of 20 something drug gang bangers.

This wasn’t a “mistake”; you don’t “accidentally” force your way into someone’s home.

The government employees selected his house.

The government employees murdered that man.

“faulty information from a drug informant”

How about “criminal negligence” by law enforcement for not having a process to validate tips from “drug informants”????

This is a hideous crime by the police and I’d love to know the outcome of this 6-1/4 year old case.

It is actually older than that. I found this out from searching Google.

Lebanon Police Lt. Steve Nokes, head of the town's narcotics unit, was fired from the police department and indicted on charges of criminal responsibility for reckless homicide, tampering or fabricating evidence and aggravated perjury. He was acquitted of all charges in June 2001.

But the Lebanon Daily Times reported on May 24 that the city of Lebanon will pay at least $400,000 to Lorine Adams. She has received a lump sum payment of $200,000 and will receive $1,675 per month for the rest of her life. If she lives 15 years, the total pay-out would reach more than half a million dollars. The city also paid John Adams' medical bills of $45,000 and funeral expenses of $5,804. The city's insurance carrier will pay for the settlement. No word yet on Lebanon's new insurance rates.

“I’m not interested in any job that involves shooting innocents.”

Talking about uniforms, not the jobs. You said, “But they have snappy uniforms.”

How can these donut eaters not realize the house they invaded was the wrong house.... How many elderly people are drug dealers...(I assume it was a drug warrant)

No knock warrants need some serious reform and a much higher standard to have one issued...

How difficult would it be for a plain clothed cop to knock on the door during the day and see who answers....

Every time the police kill the wrong person or shoot somebodies dog in one of these raids they say the same thing.

We will go back and study our program and see what went wrong, and then the next week these trigger happy wannabees kill someone else.

There is no need to kick somebody’s door down and kill them, even if they are dope dealers.

Wait untilthey come out and arrest them.

Well they have not had “to protect” on vehicles around here for a lot of years after someone tried to sue the police for not protecting them and the lawyers said that it’s not the police’s job. Only those of old enough to remember Dragnet or Adam-12 probably remember that phrase on the police cars.

we need to at the local level get rid of all swat and get rid of no-knock raids

And the only way that will begin to happen is when citizens/victims blow the bastards away.

The good ones don't behave like nazis, and the nazis need culled before no one sees a difference.

This happened 13 years ago. Why is it back in the news?
