Again with the personal attacks.
The two of us are closer to agreement than you might want to believe. I, too, want to solve the problem; but that solution cannot include letting people who came here illegally to remain—That will devastate the country.
I think I demonstrated that I’m a reasonable guy by agreeing to closing our borders as the Number 1 objective.
Concerning what is now item Number 2, the government is doing NOTHING to apprehend and deport those who are in our country illegally. You might recall the DOJ even initiated a lawsuit against the sovereign State of Arizona for trying to enforce immigration laws that are already on the books—Something about states not being able to horn-in on the fed’s turf. Selective enforcement, or non-enforcement, of laws—Why have laws at all, then?
Rush has become an entertainer who is no longer entertaining.
I turned him back only recently; having turned him off after the election due to his non-stop negativity and fixation on “low-information” voters. That he spent almost the entire first hour of the program today going on about how he was taken-in by news reports yesterday about sent me ‘round the bend. I stopped listening to Hannity years ago.
Levin comes on here at dinner-time, so I don’t get much of a chance to listen to him. I do have most of his books, though, and like the way he thinks.
I asked my accountant last week if not paying my taxes was illegal.
He replied, “Yes.”
I then asked him if that would make an illegal.
Again, he replied, “Yes.” But he went on to caution me that I would not be the type of illegal that DC politicians are falling all over themselves for.
I said, “Damn!”
I agree the government is doing nothing now. And that is not what I propose. But you go ahead and find the 50-60 million LEO’s it will take to deport 12 million folks - and the money it will take to pay them - and get back to me. And while you’re at it, you handle the 80-100 million LEGAL Americans who DO NOT want what you want. When you have those two details solved, get back to me.
Until then, I’ll advocate things that can work and which will solve the problem.
Since you aren’t reading so well, I’ll repeat, for oh I don’t know, the ten thousandth time - that it’s not that mass deport SHOULD NOT happen....it’s that it CANNOT HAPPEN and thus it WILL NOT HAPPEN.
You can drone on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about why it SHOULD happen....and guess what? We don’t disagree. BUT IT CANT AND IT WONT, but we still have things we can do to make the country MUCH CLOSER TO PERFECT than it is today....and that’s where I am spending my energy. But you go ahead, drone on and on and on and on and on and on about a point we don’t even disagree on if you want to.
Rubio is no conservative. He is a fraud. I am very disappointed in Rush.

Can’t argue with you. I follow your logic and I confess that your take on this is something I haven’t seen detailed elsewhere.
I do have a philosophical, and moral, argument with codifying illegality as legality. I know you understand and share that.
Part of me wants to say that ‘if we can build an atom bomb from a theory, as a nation we can deport’, but in the age of 0bama, I’m not so sure that is the case. Our last remaining question, at least to me, is do we have the will to try?
Like you, I know the political class does not. Which leaves us in a hell of a big hole.

As a side note, everyone has a right to bash Rush such as you are doing. But if you are going to do it, stop with the adhominim attacks and add some facts to any discussion/argument you may be trying to start...........

Logic is all I’m applying here. And no, I don’t see anyone else breaking the logic of the issue down the way I do either, which is sad. This is so obvious to me. (then again, golf came easy to Tiger Woods, and I’m a hacker at that!)
People tend to wildly underestimate the economic upheaval to all innocent people that mass deportations would cause. I just don’t think that’s worth it. It’s not do able in the first place, not to mention the police state we would become simply by putting in the apparatus to try to do so.
I don’t like these realities, but I do recognize them. And I think if we secured the border, cut the bennnies, and deported those in custody already - we would see a far different and far better nation very very soon. And no other road that I see leads to far better very soon.
Don’t you know, if you disagree with some Freepers on certain issues, that alone makes you a RINO, a sell out, a fraud, just in it for the money, bought and sold, evil, etc. Get with the program!
As has been pointed out, it can be done by denying these criminals social services and jobs and hey will leave and it can be done by direct deportation and various means in between.

I think Rush was being civil while making it perfectly clear that he was not in agreement with most of Rubio's points. He challenged Rubio.
I think it would have been disrepectful for Rush to attack him.
I thought Rush handled it appropriately.
If Rush had been disrespectful, it would have ended up on the MSM news drawing sympathy to amnesty...possibly.

But I know he's done more to educate people than you have.
