What Happened When The Mods Pulled My Post?
About a quart of Gin ^ | April 9 2013 | A Demented Mind

I just spent alot of time posting!

I see that, looks like you hit a small bump.

Pictured: Small Bump

What happened?
Well, someone set up us the bomb?
I'm serious!
Oh, well.. looks like your post got pulled.

Augh! I spent alot of effort on that! How did it happen?!
Couldn't be because you were doing it wrong?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

What the, how'd you get that video of m-- uh.. I don't even wear that!
Right Skippy. *cough* Well, since you asked, here's how posts get removed.
First, if it is against TOS it gets seen.

Then it gets marked.

Okay, I have that much.
Then the mods gather:

Pictured, mods gathering.

I don't think that's how it looks, I..
Look, do you want an answer or not?
...Yes?
Right, carrying on.
Then they back their vehicle up to your post.

Whoah! What the heck is that thing?!
It's a machine, that eats other machines.
With this:

I don't see what this has to do with my post vanishing, can you tell me wha-
Watch it question boy! I have a flamethrower!

You want to vanish like your dog did?

What the?! No, not Roozer too!
To be fair, your dog WAS drunk.
What?! Who would even... please don't point that flamethrower at me.
Right, and after they saw your post off the entire forum, they set it on fire.

Wait.. that man. His face, and fire! Oh GOD WHY?!
Oh, HIS post was all about his face, so the mods set it on fire.
After that, they used the ashes to open a gate between our world and theirs, like this:

BLECH! That's horrible!
And those tentacles! GAAAH!

If you think that's bad, you should see what happens when the mods get their hands on a bad thread.

Pictured: Mod hands

Oh look, here comes a mod now.
Looks like they want to ask you about that thread you just posted.

Gaaah! Tell them I'm indisposed!

Pictured: Moderator, dunno which one.

Tell them yourself, they're right behind you.

Wait, don't run away!
We haven't gotten to what happens when they edit your thread title!

This concludes our sordid fictional tale.
If you liked that, we have plenty more in the book "Oh the horrible things you'll summon!" rumored to be written by IamnotaMod

Having some difficulty visualizing the spherical cars as stable, but otherwise the scenario is one to drool over. Have you developed a carfare schedule? How much of a dent would this put into the average family’s budget? Would you extend it to inner urban transportation? If so, how would safety considerations with respect to violent crime be addressed?

Darks, Cyber reads me your thread every night. I miss horribly the FRiends who are missing, too, but you make me split a gut.

I’m usually texting to my nephew about baseball. We are still very close after all these years.

Cyber goes on Face Book to communicate with my nieces. I don’t know how to do Face Book. LOL!

We usually have Cyber’s two lap tops (one for work), our Droids (for my texting and his work), and my tablet on the bed with us. Of course, the TV is on FOX or the baseball games, too.

I miss everyone, just can’t use these hands and back very much. Cyber is my Angel, but don’t tell him I said that...

He’s now making up songs about the five cats, and making me laugh hyserically. Have to give them their turkey treats now.

Thank you!

You have asked several excellent questions.

The car’s stability is a matter of careful programming and many sensors. It is programmed to move very smoothly, as if a very conscientious chauffeur were trying to impress you.

With the destination selected, the entire trip is anticipated, including the necessity of slowing slightly to mix in with other spherical elevator cars, on their appointed rounds. Each twist and turn is anticipated, and the car adjusts smoothly to prepare for them. Just as a roller-coaster banks into hairpin turns, the spherical elevator cars rotate and tilt to accommodate the gentle accelerations. You hardly know you’re moving.

But there are seats available, and most people choose to take a seat after entering and selecting their destination. The car can sense how many people there are, and adjusts its forces to match.

There is no fare, per se. Excessive usage, or business usage, as for making deliveries, is billed out on a monthly account, rather like a cable services bill. If you use more services, you are charged more. The fees are moderate, as the cost of maintenance and construction are the lion’s share of what such a system will cost a community.

If you have and carry a cell phone, there are applications to link you to the transportation system, to enable you to use it more efficiently and plan your trips with precision.

The system extends as far as it is practicable to do. That would include city centers, parking garages, venues, restaurants and municipal buildings. It is advantageous for office buildings and manufacturers to be a part of the system, and they are expected to contribute heavily to be able to participate.

Safety is a paramount concern. The same system of sensors that monitors the people boarding can check and display in advance whether a called car is empty. If you are concerned, you should not enter. Similarly, the sensors can display whether the area to exit into is clear of people nearby. You would not have to exit before checking for hostile presence.

It is widely circulated that any indication of a crime being committed within a car can result in having the car immediately reroute to a safety spot where trained security personnel will ascertain what the problem may be and what actions should be taken. It is advisable to teach your children to be orderly and in particular not to scream and throw tantrums while being transported.

Making criminals aware of this policy tends to reduce their willingness to enter a closed space where they cannot slip easily away.

For an “underground” type of system, it prides itself on having sunshine as the best disinfectant. By that I mean visibility.

Bob, is the system based on electron magnetic polarity and polarity reversal thereby creating the methodology of propulsion given speeds capable of electrons? Have the calculations been done as to stabilize the sphere to remain constant through magnetic attraction so as to control in order not to generate three hundred and sixty degree rotation, or is this possibly a needless entity and probably a necessary part of design within the system due to such rotation would not be noticed if employed as method of movement? Should the system lose electrical induced magnetic induced functionality has there been calculations done for a methodology to thereby bring said spherical containment of humanoids to a safe stop?

Bob, it appears you are well underway with this plan and I Love the idea. The speeds attainable within the tube system would be capable of speeds which would approach the speed of light. Would quickly send people from place to place and would do so quicker than any method current utilized.

I first read that as I thought it was only a trap if there was an attractive model standing there waving the panicked Bob towards the door?

(Sorry, Bob.)

Thanks! I’ve been here before, but it’s nice to be back.

The remedy to the abandoned camera is, of course, the loan of another camera that uses actual film. *gasp* A little slower perhaps, but effective.

I should create a joke app called ‘Autocorrupt’ that demolishes your missives into horrible typo’d kludges.

I thought you already had that? *ducking and running*

The system uses magnetic and electromagnetic components, as well as linear induction, for interaction with the “rails”.

A major difference in the routing algorithms treats the car not as a single unit, but as a flight of discreet units, like a military formation. So you’ll notice as the trip begins that the car tilts forward in the direction you’re moving, just as a walking man leans forward with each step.

The car is also directed to tilt away from the direction of a curve, so that the slight shift of weight is felt as downward, instead of sideways. It requires a massive amount of computation at the beginning of the trip, but the execution is handled with finesse.

Within the tubes, many “Y” branches are in place, joining and separating in all orientations. For heavily traveled sections, multiple tubes run in parallel. At a minimum, this allows coming and going from the same destination. Only the actual endpoint of a destination is a dead end. One car has to fill and depart before another can drop off new passengers, although in more public concourses, these functions may appear to operate in parallel.

While the system is an ultimate consumer of electrical energy, some recapture of electrical potential is part of the design. As some cars are being lifted to a higher elevation, others may be descending, and their energy is captured and transferred within the system.

Safety is, as noted earlier, a primary component of the design. The issue of a safe stop in the event of a system-wide power failure is a tricky one. In such an event, your planned destination may not be the one you are delivered to, and you may expect that it will be lower in elevation than you had anticipated as well.

The system cannot lose power instantly and system wide, as it has the capability of storing and transferring energy. All routing is performed with the failure protocol in mind, and some delays may occur in travel times in order to maintain a positive balance of emergency energy.

The speeds are moderate, not unlimited. The great advantage of such a system is that it delivers door to door, or in some instances floor to floor, functioning as an elevator at the destination.

But longer stretches, say a trip between cities, rather than within, are only limited by the need to slow for curves and obstructions to be avoided within the system. In such a case, relatively high speeds are possible, since track friction is non-existant, and air friction is reduced by having expansion air bladders along the routes of straight travel. As the car pushes the air ahead of it, it tends to compress, and the air expands into flexible bladders, spilling back out again after the car has passed.

These components are also part of the air supply and exchange network. The tube system requires a large ancillary air supply system to supply fresh air within the tube network, although as much as possible, such air movement is designed to flow naturally, without need for electrical augmentation. The moving cars provide much of the force necessary to move air within the system.

It should be noted that in the event of a system-wide power failure, the emergency destinations should be evacuated as soon as possible after the cars stop, because fresh air will no longer be flowing, and it would be a mistake to wait in the car with the air getting stale around it.

Battery operated voice instructions would activate in such instances, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
