Well, as long as it only applies to animals....”We’re getting closer to town” “How can you tell?” “We’re hitting more people”
We’re allowed to keep deer or antelope...but not elk or bison...that we hit, AFTER waiting for a cop to arrive on-scene to take the report and document the accident.
In accidents involving mountain lions, if it survives, it can opt to keep the driver.
Down here on Highway 89 on the east side of Zion National Park they hit at least one mule deer daily. Colorcountry hit two deer in the last year. In fact she hit one on the way to the Freeper picnic when Jim Robinson was here.
Wolves.....the other white meat.
I am surprised they didn’t already have it.
Heck, even here in the People’s Collective of New York anyone can keep deer killed by cars, regardless of season. You just have to have a sheriff’s deputy give you a tag for it so the State DEC doesn’t nail you for taking a deer out of season. This is easy since one usually calls for a LEO after hitting a deer because you need the report for insurance.
Hit a deer around here and someone will show up in short order asking for it. They rarely go to waste.
I have only “harvested” deer by motor vehicle (2 in the last 6 years alone) but thankfully no other big game. So I don’t know if the same rule applies to bear.
