KFC says new boneless chicken is a 'game changer'

Trying to tear meat off a chicken skeleton is an annoyance for many Americans, especially younger ones. So KFC, in what it’s calling a “game changer” of a move, is ditching the bones.

The Kentucky-based chicken chain is rolling out its Original Recipe Boneless options on April 14 as it attempts to draw back patrons seeking more portable, convenient foods.

When we were kids we could tear the meat off a rhino and crack the bones for the marrow. Kids must be getting wimpy.

One thing I’ve always liked about chicken from a fast food place is unlike ground beef, it’s much more difficult to ‘fake’ it if serving whole pieces(NOT ‘pink slime’ nuggets).

I can see that it is boneless, but I cannot see that it is chicken. Is it green by any chance?

There’s nothing new here. We had a restaurant in my little rural Alabama hometown serve delicious boneless chicken way back in the early ‘70s.

I gave my love a chicken, A chicken that had no bones.

She covered it in 57 Sauce, that company she owns.

I used to work with a guy who married a Japanese girl during Korea. One day he invited me to supper.

The meal was traditional Southrn cooking including fried chicken. The only difference was the chicken had no bones. She had removed all the bones. It still tasted just like what my Mother used to fry but it was neat not having to worry with the bones.

Something interesting happened after supper. My friend had worked on his automatic transmission and when he was through he had an extra part. He found out it was an unnecessary part but he wanted to show it to me.

We he searched for maybe ten minutes then he said “Kioki, do you know where that part is”. She smiled and immediately walked over to a drawer and picked it out and handed it to him.

If he had not asked she would not have told him where it was.

KFC is the worst of the chicken chains. Hands down. I don’t know how they stay open.

I want my chicken pre-chewed so I don’t have to chew it so much.

Correct. They can put all sorts of things into this boneless chicken including bone marrow, heads, fat and innards and process it so well that nobody will even recognize it except a few of us farm guys and gals who were raised on real chicken. As long as these byproducts come from a chicken, there is no law against labeling chicken.

Why do you think chicken nuggets can be bought on a weight basis sometimes for less than a quality rotisserie chicken?

Years ago when she was in grade school my younger sister actually wanted to know how they raised chickens with no skeletons (bones). Our whole family had great fun with that for years.

It is funnier now that she is long done with college and graduated with several firms (computer, insurance companies, the government) who competed for her.. she was/is brilliant at mathematics and was on a course as an actuarial... but ended up being a teacher and mother to her kids and did not pursue any course related to math at all!

Exactly. Same deal with cooking whole fish rather than fillets.
