Finally, after years of dreaming, we've finally moving from New Yorkistan to America (the outskirts of Atlanta, to be exactly)! I accepted the transfer offer today, for a position that I really wanted & I'm pretty sure I'm going to love. And to all the Georgia residents out there, I solemnly swear that we will not mess up your state. We're moving to Georgia because we like what it is, not because we want to change it.
Having been raised in captivity, I'm thinking it may take us a while to adapt to the wild (AKA freedom). But I'm positive that we're going to love it!!!
Once we're down there, I'm switching my username to "EscapedFromNY".
As soon as you can, drive north on 441 to NC, and drive around Highlands, Franklin, Nantahala and that area. You won’t regret it.
LOL
Welcome to Ga, I live down in Houston Co. (middle GA)
Well grab you a big gulp, and get ye to a Chik Fillet.
Enjoy the new life.
Despite what you might be told..having a NASCAR number tattoo is completely voluntary...
Good luck, God bless, and please remember that you came to South to join it, not to change it.
And don’t forget they pronounce it (House-Ton) not Hewston like they do in Texas.
There is a really nice state park North of Atlanda near Mountain City. It is Black Rock Mountain state park. It has been my favorite since around 1958.
Hehe!
Bless your heart! :)
I am just a stones throw away from you in SC....let us know when that rat race becomes too much for you and you and yours will be more than welcome to the great state of SC!!! We love those who love freedom and the greatest state in the world...the state of original freedom!!!
....
Note to potentials: DO NOT move to either of those places.
I hope you’re moving into one of those newly incorporated cities that escaped Atlanta.
Don’t take your New York accent with you.
Congrats!!!! I’m genuinely happy for you!!
I’m a Texan but I know there are tons of real Patriots in Georgia too!! :)
Welcome! Be sure to reside OTP (outside the perimeter) to be safe from the Obots...
Be careful to check your cholesterol after a month or two...
I keep my promises - we will not be seeking to change your state. That is one thing that I can guarantee.
I don’t think I have much of a “NY” accent - it’s more generic, since I grew up in Central NY (which, by the way, has more in common with the south than it does with downstate). Of course, my accent is still a far cry from southern, so I know I’ll stand out. But my husband is born & raised on Long Island - I think I need to get him some speech classes.
And thanks to everyone for the suggestions on neighborhoods. My office will be in Tucker, so I’m looking toward the northeast of Atlanta for a home. I recognize many of the town names that you’re mentioning, from all of the online research I’ve been doing over the past few weeks. But it’s good to hear from people who know the towns personally, for a real perspective.
(1) Be sure you come by way of Ellis Island...take a good look @ the Statue of Liberty;
(2) Well, on the other hand, it's possible we're already WAY OVER 'QUOTA' on allowing New Yorkistan illegals across our borders.
He spoke it up like it was heaven on earth and he did live all his life in an upscale prime $ection of the NY suburbs.
