Retired Marine Sniper Bob Lee Swagger and former Washington Post film critic Stephen Hunter are back with The Third Bullet .....
In a move that is rather genius in its simplicity, Hunter has taken his old protagonist and thrown him a mystery that has haunted America for 50 years: who killed President John F. Kennedy? ......
However, Hunter has no time for foolish conspiracies. In his novel he presents a theory that is ridiculously plausible that is supported and sustained by the one thing most readers love about Hunter: his substantial knowledge about firearms......
Besides the central mystery, The Third Bullet still has a lot to offer. It's not one book, but two. We get Swagger's story and we also get the first-person account of the main conspirator in the JFK assassination (his identity is a nice surprise for longtime Hunter readers). Hunter weaves these two books together, so we get a thrilling account of not just Swagger's adventures, but an account of the day of Nov. 22nd, 1963 as well.
From its brilliantly amusing opening to its powerful final moments, it's easy to sense that The Third Bullet is the novel Hunter and Swagger were always meant to create. It's the culmination of years of writing, shooting and learning. It's the novel that sets in stone the fact that Hunter is a damn good writer and Bob Lee Swagger is a damn fine hero. And if the final moments of The Third Bullet are to be believed: these two old birds ain't done yet. "

ON the same subject, I had not heard about this before:

The “sewer system shooter”.
In the video, go to 7:00 for that tidbit.
bump
The sewer shooter theory has been around for a long time, and pardon the pun, but it doesn’t hold water. It’s impossible for someone shooting from that vantage point to aim a trajectory to make the shots possible.
The 3rd Bullet was an awesome book.
I dunno. That video is very interesting. ;-)
“...present a theory that many others haven’t touched over the years. I won’t give away the details, but it’s damn good.”
Well, I’m not going to go buy the book with no clue as to what the theory is. If it’s really a good theory, I’m sure I’ll here about it soon enough from sources that won’t squeeze my wallet.
Anyone can make an “interesting” video or book about the JFK assassination, which is why there are hundreds and hundreds of them out there, and most of them contradict each other. Making a theory that stands up to critical review is another matter entirely.
Go to 23:57 in this video. I think this is the most plausible *reason* Kennedy was assasinated:

Especially looking at where we are now.
Years ago I read an article in National Lampoon, supported with a picture, that Kennedy’s driver shot him.
A lady in our office is a big Hunter fan, but had never read Dirty White Boys. I loaned her a copy with the warning, “Don’t trip over the opening paragraph.” ;)
Haven't read it yet, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that Frenchy Short is in there somewhere.
Unless the Man hole cover was replace with another one, it could not happen. Manhole covers weigh 200+lbs.
I have to laugh every time I see some one in a movie rasing a manhole cover and looking up the street!
Oh yea! Don’t drop one on your toe!
I have heard that it is now standard procedure for the SS advance team to weld all manhole cover shut in the vicinity of any presidential appearance. I don't know if they do it on long parade routes, but they may.
The focus should be on the 1.6 sec between the first and second shot.
Yeah, I’ve seen the photo/video close-up that purports to show that too. You don’t seriously believe it do you?
They do along the motorcade routes in NYC.
LHO was a Marxist street agitator who would’ve been blogging daily on the dailykos if it was around back then. The left could not accept that one of their own killed JFK so they conjured up all these bogus conspiracy theories to take away from the fact that a Castro-fanboy acted alone.
